We have been boarding our golden doodle here for a few years. They are always so friendly and loving toward him and when I pick him up, they provide details of how he eats and plays and comment that they give him extra cuddles and attention. I really like that their kennels are so long and indoor/outdoor and that they have different play options.

They seem to have excuses for everyone’s low rating .

Owner take note … of course I would not leave my pet with you after reading these reviews :
And of course I would go somewhere else where I KNOW MY FAMILY PET would be taken care of . You do not need to tell me that as it’s an obvious.
So thankful for all these reviews … says much about how you operate and how you conduct business . Just the way you responded to me and all other reviewers says it all .

For 12 years that I was living in Colorado Springs, Doug, Michaelanne, and their kids took GREAT care of my dog, CHARCOAL, at Woodmen Kennels. CHARCOAL absolutely loved them and so do I. CHARCOAL, a Bluetick Coonhound mix, lived a good, long 16 years with me and I believe that long life was partly due to the fantastic way Woodmen Kennels treated her! I have since moved back to Arizona, but if I were still there, ALL of my animals would stay there with them. Woodmen Kennels owners, and staff are the very best!

Long review, but in short, I left my dog with Woodmen Kennels for a week, and I strongly believe that they didn't feed her the entire time.

I'll start by saying that this was a while ago (perhaps a year and a half, as of my writing this), so it could be that the problem that lead to this has been addressed. But Woodmen Kennels and my dog's treatment there came to mind again today, and it again made me angry, and I realized I never wrote a review.

I brought my dog in to stay with Woodmen Kennels for five days, and they had me bring in 5 gallon-bags of her food to feed her. She's a Great Dane, so that much food was necessary. Yet when I picked her up a week later, she was very thin, and the folks working the counter brought me 4.5 of the original 5 bags back. Given her size, I would have expected to (maybe) get one of the bags back. But they somehow had almost all of the food still on hand, and my dog was notably thinner than when I dropped her off. Then I brought her home, and the first thing she did was go nuts on her food. She was starving.

I genuinely don't think the folks at Woodmen Kennels fed my dog for that entire week, except perhaps a little bit.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not trying to say that they intentionally didn't feed her out of evil intention or anything like that. There are enough good reviews to tell me that they do their work and have good intent. But the fact is (or at least I believe the fact is and don't see how I could be wrong) that something in their system went really wrong, and my dog was overlooked for a full week. And if something in their system could go that wrong - even once - then I don't feel good at all leaving my dog with them.

I think back on this every now and then, and each time, I once again feel both bad for my dog and angry that they overlooked her for that long.

I paid for my dog to be cared for, but instead she was starved. And unless Woodmen Kennels has severely cleaned up their act to ensure that this can never happen again, I can't ethically recommend them. For your dog's sake, please avoid these guys.

Didn’t have a good “feeling” when I dropped them off. Was told I couldn’t leave their blanket and that I couldn’t see where they would be keeping them. Anyone taking there loved pets wants to see where they are kept. No it doesn’t cause the other animals there stress what it can do is relieve the stress of the ones dropping off.
This gave me a bad feeling inside right off the bat but we were leaving for our trip the next morning. Was told they only feed them once a day at 11:00. I paid extra to feed them twice as what is what is normally done for dogs. Since they have been home they have been vomiting and have it loose stools. I have taken my dogs for years to another boarder who just recently closed and never had any issues with them being ill when I picked them up. It is not normal for your animal to experience vomiting and diarrhea, unless they picked up some illness. Makes me think the kennels we’re not keep clean. The biggest question from the kennel was “what time are you going to pick them up so we can give them a bath”
My dogs were only there for 7days, there should have been no reason why they needed a bath unless they were in unclean conditions.
