We spent two nights in the Cajun cabin at Windsock Acres in Creede, CO. It is a newly rebuilt quaint little cabin with a full kitchen adjacent to two other great little cabins all situated in the common yard of the owners. They, along with the manager, are some of the very nicest friendly people. It was an added bonus to meet them, their very well mannered children, and the family "Strange Dog". This couldn't be a nicer place to stay; everything is new and is in great shape. It's close to downtown and the Creede Repertory Theater; a good restaurant is only a short block away. An adjacent cabin, the "Boat House" is a craftsman's dream. It was hand crafted over a seven year period. Truly remarkable! We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it unless you don't like friendly people who do whatever they can to make you comfortable and welcomed.

We stayed in the Boat House in the 3rd week in September. The cabin will WOW you from the outside details to the inside. Excellent wood carvings throughout, an architectural wonder. It is a 2-story cabin but your room is on the 2nd floor -- the ground floor appears to be a storage shed for the owners that is partitioned off the entry that directs you up the spiral stair to your room. ||||We're glad we stayed there while we visited beautiful Creede for the first time. It's about a block off main street Creede, so we could easily walk to everything in town, as well as the mining museum up the hill. We had good dinner meals at Arp's, and Tommyknocker Tavern, as well as Antler's, which is a short drive outside of town. ||||I only give the Boat House 4 out of 5 stars because the level of comfort was disappointing:||||1. The mornings were in the 40s and the heating system was awkward to turn on and didn't put out much heat. ||||2. There was a coffee nook but no power to heat the water pot, so we used the electrical outlet across the room. It wasn't till we were two days into our 3-night stay that we found an extension cord under the bed that could have been used for the water pot (the nook is right next to the bed). ||||3. The claw-foot tub is a beauty but not very safe. It is steep-walled, long and narrow, and difficult to get in and out, especially because there weren't any non-slip decals in the bottom of the tub or a rubber mat for foot traction. ||||4. The entry door was difficult to open. It would stick. The owner had to show us a technique to open the door. ||||5. Breakfast doesn't come with the cost of the cabin, and we knew that, but we didn't know that breakfast options in town would be so hard to come by. The only place in town that served breakfast was called MJs and it was disappointing. There was a food truck that made very good breakfast burritos but we could only eat there once because the outside seating was too chilly to enjoy most mornings. ||||It took me almost 3 months to decide to write this review, knowing all other reviews are more positive. But after staying here for 3 nights, it seems the cabin would benefit greatly by utilizing the storage area on the ground floor for a shower and a small kitchenette. And rather than just having a radiator heater in the storage shed and expecting the heat to rise to the 2nd floor, why not install a better heating system? Just a suggestion.

My husband and I stayed in the Cajun Cabin at Windsock Acres June 10th for 3 nights. The minute I walked in I knew I had made the right choice. It was so cute, original and so welcoming. We were brought homemade treats by Linnea (the manager) every morning and visits by the owner's adorable little boys was just icing on the cake. I'm not really a B & B type person but this setting was perfect....AND the location was pretty good too... could walk to everything in Creede. We originally booked for 2 nights but extended our stay by a night and we hated to leave! Will definitely be back! Until next time Lula, J & T. T...missing our front porch talks and our cheetos! 🙂

My husband and I (mid-30s) stayed in the Boathouse for our anniversary weekend and loved it. This place is a quintessential hidden gem. I have stayed in some amazing places all over the world, and I can honestly say that this was the most unique. The woodwork and decor are exquisite, and the hosts were incredible accommodating and kind. If you're looking for a memorable place to stay that is in no way cookie cutter, you pretty much can't get any better than this!

I was looking for a place to take my wife for a quick getaway for her birthday. We love the town of Creede and actually live less than an hour away. Not much was open in town at this time of year, but I was able to get in contact with Windsock Acres. They had a place ready for us and it was perfect! A nice relaxing time with no tv or other distractions. We actually got to just spend time together, which is more and more appreciated as we get older. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Would recommend to anyone looking for something a little out of the ordinary!

We woman-. stayed in the Boathouse and Cajun (there is a third cabin - the Magnolia). ||The Bothouse is a beautiful piece of wood craftsmanship. You cannot comprehend the amount of love and care that went into this piece of art until you see it for yourself. It is truly beautiful. ||The Cajun too is a piece of art. A beautiful hand painted mural greets you in the living room. The Cajun is larger and offers more privacy.||Linnaea, our hostess is a kind and friendly young lady (and makes delicious muffins). She greets you when you arrive and gives you a tour of the property. Her knowledge of the area (especially hiking and eateries) was so helpful. A bottle of wine is waiting for you as well as water, sparkling water, orange juice and creamer in the fridge. Linnea makes arrangements with you regarding breakfast and coffee. My husband looked forward to breakfast and the yummy muffins Linnaea brought by.||I highly recommend staying in one of the lovely and unique cabins at Windsock Acres. It is located in walking distance to shopping and restaurants.

We only stayed one night at The Boathouse but really liked this place and want to go back to explore the Creede area. This cabin has such character, we wished we would have asked more questions about the owner and his thoughts about building it. Things to keep in mind; there is no air conditioning which can be tough during the day but the June night was very nice. No t.v. which is a blessing, enjoy your surroundings! Your neighbors are close so you need to be friendly and respectful but they are very welcoming so not hard to do. Linnea was great seeing as how we grossly underestimated our arrival time☹. We enjoyed ourselves at this little gem!

In hopes of being able to make reservations here in the future...this place is really a find. Three cute cabins set on a nice patch of property within walking distance of the Main Street in Creede. Now, it wouldn't be easy to carry a case of OliveOil/Balsamic back from that shop, nor would it be fun to walk back from a play in a downpour, however, under more typical circumstances you're fine. Very quiet, beds that make you think that perhaps it's time to buy a new mattress back home. Very handsome sheets. OJ and Perrier in the mini fridge, nice bottle of red wine on the table. Glass subway tile shower that is large, as in you don't hit your elbows when washing your hair, and while we were in the smallest of their cabins, there's enough room to sit around without feeling like you're cramped. Pretty view out the one window of the yard, the other window looks up the ways towards the cemetery.||You gotta give these guys high marks, so when you have the chance to come to Creede, if you're not dragging a fifth wheel around and need a place to stay, I'm thinking you should check them out, I'm confident you wont be sorry. ||I'd be remiss if I didn't bring your attention to their flagship cabin, pretty much all hand made, whittled wood banisters, really something, very whimsical. Great job !||Enjoy your Stay, Windsocks, Thanks ! Cheers, Salida1048
