I've been working with Alex for about 18 months to help with my very strong willed Keeshond mix. Alex is a professional and is firm in his methodology but is also open to feedback and working with what you need as a parent and what your dog needs to succeed. I have worked with trainers in the past who made me feel like my dog was unsafe, he would cower and run from them. Now he forgets he ever had a mom and I have to pry him away from Alex at the end of a session. I cannot recommend Urban Training enough.

Alex and Zoe are amazing! They do an amazing job of meeting you and your dog where you are in training and helping you achieve your goals with positive reinforcement methods. My dog has been working on his reactivity around other dogs, especially while on leash. Alex and Zoe are great in seeing what methods and training tools will help not only him, but me as well. Since working with UrbanTraining.Dog, I have gained a lot of confidence when walking him and we both enjoy them so much more now! I'd highly recommend UrbanTraining.Dog for all your doggo (and dog owner) training needs!

My 5 year old Whippet-mix, Roobi and I, recently completed an 8-week training program with Alex at Urban Dog Training, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. Alex was attentive, communicative, and highly skilled in providing personalized training in various settings to help Roobi refine her skills and prepare for the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test as a step toward her service dog qualifications.

Throughout the program, Roobi learned important behaviors such as walking consistently by my side, returning quickly when called, touching my hand with her nose, waiting behind me to enter buildings and doors, and responding to cues for entering and exiting vehicles. The training was not only enriching and fun but also incredibly effective. I can see how much more advanced our communication has become, and Roobi’s understanding of the world has grown.

After eight weeks of weekly sessions and consistent homework practice, Alex administered Roobi’s AKC Canine Good Citizen test, and she passed with flying colors! Alex’s approach was always tailored to our specific situation, and he used creative and effective methods to teach both of us the necessary skills to succeed as a service animal and handler team.

Besides being an enjoyable experience, the training has been a tremendous value and has significantly enhanced the quality of life for both Roobi and me. We plan to continue participating in supplemental sessions and pack walks to keep our skills sharp.

I wish there was an option for 6 or 7 stars for Zoe and Alex. They've gone above and beyond for my Pitbull, Charlie! I started out with Pack Walks looking to get him more comfortable in social settings and I was incredibly impressed with the attention to detail and breadth of knowledge on positive reinforcement. I felt as if I was getting a personalized experience on each of the walks!

I was so happy with the walks that I signed up for a few Adult Dog training sessions as well! I was looking for help on obedience when exposed to new people in the house, and boy did they come through! Zoe and Alex showed me exactly what to do and enabled me to continue the training on my own to ensure Charlie would continue to improve!

I cannot recommend these two enough! They've helped me train positively with Charlie and it's had such a tremendous effect on his behavior. I can't thank you enough.

Zoe and Alex make dog training so fun! Classes are reasonably priced for the experience that you get! My dog (Frank) has been working on his reactivity around other dogs. Not only do both Alex and Zoe see what he needs but also support my confidence in being around other dogs and staying calm. Frank and I have been able to join pack walks and even play groups recently, which I thought was light years away from what he needed. I'd highly recommend Urban Training for all your doggo training needs!

Alex and Zoey are dog whisperers! They have such a wonderful approach to training that is individualized based on each dog’s & family’s unique needs. They have helped us significantly reduce our dog’s anxiety in just a few weeks and we can’t imagine working with anyone else. We love their 1:1 training as well as the group sessions that are not only good for socialization and skill building for the pups but also fun for the owners. If you’re looking for experienced trainers who are also a joy to interact with, you’ve found your team!

If you are a busy dog parent struggling on training your dog and don't want to lose your dog, Urban Training Dog is NOT for you. They will encourage you to re-home your dog and even report you to animal control for your flaws when they believe you are inadequate as a parent, which is what they did to me.

No doubt that Alex is knowledgeable and strongly opinionated, and I believed and trusted everything he said. But I felt that Alex had no tolerance on my parenting flaws. He was demanding and pushed for immediate corrections at a pace I find unreasonable. He was mean many times during the training even though I was very kind and respectful. I felt that he was blaming more than helping me, and then he just gave up on my dog. At first I thought this was a strategy for better or faster learning, so I did my best to be open-minded, until he quit from training and concluded as if there is no chance for improvement if my dog stays in my home. I'm glad the animal control officer did not think the same towards me and my dog.

I wish I could take my money back. I am definitely going for PetSmart and other local private training services after this, hoping for a more positive and effective training experience.
