Pretty historical place. Went Hebrew on February 4th which was a free museum day. They were playing a video of a theater play that was recorded in that same theater.

This is one of the coolest gems in the Historic Old Sacramento district. It's owned by state parks but is a functional theater, and you can definitely enjoy the show there, the acoustics are amazing! The only downside is that the AC is finicky so it can get a little warm.

Sorry not sorry...
I love Old Sac. But the Eagle Theater is not worth a special trip. It's an old dusty building. If you are on a guided tour, the stories and the history they talk about are a plus. The people that work there are passionate about what they do . I have only had positive experiences with them.
Visit Old Sac and patronize the vendors. I'm always surprised that it's not more crowded when I visit. If they are having an event like a play or film please be aware they have authentic wooden benches for seating and the restroom is outside the building. Occasionally, the building is closed for an event.

I actually got to "act" in a play on this stage during our tour with the Sacramento History Museum, and it was super fun. Apparently it's identical to the original. If you go in the Summer, it's very hot so you can kind of pretend that you're in a sauna.

A melodrama for children is presented here in the fall and spring. This is a faithful recreation of the original Eagle Theater before it was destroyed by flood.

It would be nice if they let people watch the history films without an appointment, keep it open let people enjoy it for what it is.

How about give it regular hours and not have to hope when it opens. For now it has one time, I will give it a chance.
