This is a hometown family restaurant and bar with a small banquet room. We had pork tenderloin sandwiches with onion rings. Both were spectacular! The onions rings were likely the best I have ever had. I don't say that lightly. They were amazing! The waitress was also great. She was helpful and attentive without hovering. If you're in Thorntown, lN, head to Stookey's for some really good

My parents took me here once years ago, Now every time I’m visiting family in Indiana I request we grab dinner here, despite living nearly an hour away. I cannot give the Owner/manager enough praise for the service he provides. Hospitality & food is a 20/10.. I recommend the ribeye and delicious vinegar slaw!

Going in it seems like this place is the small town gem. The staff is largely friendly and good. The onion rings come. They’re great. Light breading on light onion. Then the catfish. Not the most flavorful but good enough. Not sure about the hype though. Hash browns as a side though. They were surprisingly great! Then there is the bourbon situation. When you go into the lounge side you will see a plethora of rare, fantastic bourbon. However this apparently is the owners private selection and basically off-limits unless he’s in the mood. So while you can see great bourbon you’re left with a regular selection. Not bad just bizarre. I would go back but with experience in mind I would do a little different.

Was a little crazy. If your driving by stop and see. Don’t go out of your way to see it. It cost $10 per person and made no sense except one man’s creations. If he place them in groups to make since would of been better.

I've always had nothing but the kindest and most professional waitresses. Any time I've visited this establishment! I would say even the prices are reasonable for the amount of food you receive as well. I've never had the pleasure of meeting the cook but definitely want him to know you definitely aren't unnoticed and also give "YOU A 5 🌟"
! I've been to many restaurants in this country, and Stookies is an establishment I compare to Ruth Chris Steak House minus the astronomical prices. Thank you, John Stookie and Family, for keeping this establishment alive!

It's our local go to food spot. That creates excellent service feeling like family. Which creates an awesome atmosphere even for out of towners to feel welcome. That being said, there isn't a lot of change, so when we arrive we plan on ordering our fav since we have tried it all.

We stopped there for an early dinner and we weren't disappointed. Onion rings for an appetizer were amazing. Her 10oz ribeye was wonderful as was mine, I also got some shrimp. Great flavor, cooked perfectly. There is nothing negative about anything. We'll definitely​ be back this summer for more. Plenty of seating, excellent staff.

We ordered to go food from here when we were staying with family in town due to the loss of our sister and the food was absolutely inedible… Not even exaggerating… I’ll never ever go there again… No idea how there’s any stars over 1 on here because it was absolutely the worst food I’ve had in my life… I couldn’t even eat it and had to throw it away… I highly suggest going literally anywhere else… Fast food, gas station food… Anything else is better.
