When we started our 10 lesson training sessions with Dennis, Ivy was a 8 month old lab/pit wild child with an unmatched lust for life attitude. She was extremely reactive (not aggressive) around other dogs, people coming through our front door and around our small grandchildren. During our weekly lessons Dennis gave us strategies that worked on building behaviors we wanted to see. He also stressed the importance of our commitment to practice, practice, practice the behavior we want. I still walk with treats everyday working on some behavior. Ivy is now almost 3 and I can take her nearly everywhere I go. She’s calm, attentive to me, yet still has her lust for attitude when it’s appropriate. I thank Dennis for giving me the skills to mold Ivy into the dog I wanted.

I would give Dennis 10 stars if I could! He is extremely good at what he does! He took our VERY unruly 1 year old Rottweiler Diesel from 100% out of control to walking off leash under control, sitting, coming, down stay and even place trained… in a very timely manner! Dennis is great to work with and understands the training just starts with the animal but def ends with the owners… he was firm but kind and compassionate and Dennis left us with all the necessary tools we would need to maintain Diesel’s training going forward. If you are looking for any kind of dog training Dennis should be your first call!

Over the past few years Dennis at Sierra Canine has trained three of my precious pets. With the first two, American Cockers, he met with me once a week to work with the dogs and give me instructions on how to work with them until the next lesson. Dennis is wonderful with the dogs and they love him. I was so happy with the results that when I recently acquired a Cavalier King Charles puppy I knew Sierra Canine would once again be my choice for her training. We tried the same training method but she proved to be a challenge. As a result I chose to board her for three weeks while Dennis worked with her. Thanks to his patience and perseverance she has done well. She is now home and we are working on the maintenance portion of her training. I am grateful to have found Sierra Canine. We feel very fortunate to have our dog in training with Dennis at Sierra Canine. He has brought her up from basic training as a puppy, through off leash, and now protection training. He is always ready to help resolve any issue our dog may have as training evolves. We had a problem with her reacting to other dogs on leashed walks. He gave us the tools to help diffuse her behavior, and we are actually able to take her on walks now. Dennis has definitely raised her confidence level, as well as ours as handlers. Dennis at Sierra Canine delivers results and customizes the training to the owner’s desires. What was even better is he trained us to train Samson (pictured).

In 6-7 lessons we saw our, handsome but “willful”, 1-year old learn and constantly execute what we wanted, which in our case was; Come, Heel, Sit, Down, Stay, Leave it, Free (our release word), and Place (which means that when we give that command, Samson immediately goes to a certain cot we have and remains there until we give him the “free“ command).

We highly recommend Dennis….you won’t be disappointed and it’s one on one for what we found to be less expensive than group lessons. Truly a great value!

Dennis trained my 2 year old Bernedoodle and I was very pleased with the outcome. Dennis listened to my goals and helped me achieve them and gave me very clear teachings and homework. We met at his house, at the park and my house which was helpful to address difference issues at a variety of locations. Some of the skills he helped with were door manners, barking, long sit/stays, off leash training and cot training.
