Highland Canine's School for Dog Trainers exceeded all of my expectations. I came to the school with no experience or knowledge of the dog training industry and graduated from the Master Dog Training course confident I was ready to start a new career.

The extensive curriculum (everything from basic obedience, behavior modification, scent work, police and service dogs, trailing, dog sports, etc.) was challenging but explored many facets of the industry which helped to guide me on to a new career path.

Beyond working with the dogs, the curriculum helped touch on the basic needs of operating your own business and provided many examples of how to overcome the hurdles small business owners face.

The instructors in their respective disciplines are some of the most knowledgeable people that a new dog trainer can learn from, and the opportunities Highland provides to interact with other people in the industry are invaluable. Every staff member was helpful, professional, and passionate about dog training.

The campus locations provided an exceptional environment to learn in. The local area is beautiful, and Highland is connected into the local community to provide a broad level of experiences.

I would not hesitate to recommend this program to anyone looking to find a new career path or broaden their already existing experience. You will come out of the program having learned something new.

My time at Highland Canine School for Dog Trainers was nothing short of spectacular. As a Marine Corps Veteran I searched for a school that was not only VA approved but also in-person, hands on. They did not disappoint. Not only did I have an opportunity to train a lot of dogs but also such a wide variety as well. I recently graduated from the Highland Canine School for Dog Trainers with my Master Handler Certificate. I must say that the experience was well worth the time, energy and money. Six months seems like a long time for the program however in that time you are only able to create a foundation for dog training. Jason, Erin, Mag, Elza, Amber, Shana, Brooks and the other instructors and staff have so much knowledge. Whether you are focusing on working, service or pet dogs the staff is always there to help you train, answer questions or just let you observe them working. The amount of information and skills that I left with allowed me to hit the ground running with my own business. Beside normal classroom lectures students are able to experience training a number of different breeds, behavioral issues and tasks. Mag’s heart for shelter dogs creates a unique environment that not only benefits the student but the community by giving shelter dogs the ability to learn some obedience before finding their forever home. Jason told our class, like he tells every class, that we are leaving knowing more than we think we do. I stand firm on that saying. Even after graduating the staff and instructors are more than happy to give advice, assist in hard canine cases, or just be a sounding board for things that arise. I can go on and on about how amazing this establishment and staff are and how I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in training dogs, but I will just urge you to take the time to reach out to them yourself. I know, when I am looking for another trainer to help in my business I will be looking for a Highland Grad!

I cannot say enough good things about Highland Canine School for Dog Trainers. All my expectations were surpassed. Not only do you have in-depth, hands-on practical training and testing with a wide variety of dogs, but you also get the science behind why the training works and what the dog needs. You’ll be taught how a dog thinks and how they learn.

The instructors are world class, and want you to succeed. They make themselves available for any problems or obstacles you encounter while training a dog on an assigned task.

I really enjoyed the real world experience we got during the Master Training Class. Throughout the 24 weeks, there were many times we had to work with a shelter dog, or people in the community who had pets with behavior issues. We even had an all day behavior clinic, where the public brought their dogs. We evaluated the problem(s) and recommended treatment plans.

Highland Canine School for Dog Trainers continues to do research projects expanding the knowledge of the behavior of dogs.

I was thoroughly impressed and very happy with my time at The School for Dog Trainers. I left confident in knowing I was armed with the skill set needed to help my clients and their dogs have better relationships. If you are serious about training dogs, I highly recommend Highland Canine School for Dog Trainers.

Attending the School for Dog Trainers was an incredible, life-changing experience for me. The Master Dog Trainer program is very comprehensive, covering many aspects of the dog training industry such as behavior modification, detection, apprehension/bite work, trailing, search and rescue, service dog training, and so much more. Whether you have no experience or years of experience training dogs, there is something (or many things) for you to learn here. All of the instructors are kind and helpful; they want you to succeed and provide you with ample amounts of extra learning opportunities. I have a bachelor degree and Master’s degree however the hands on dog training is where you get real experience. This School thoroughly prepares you to be a dog trainer. Highland Canine's School for Dog Trainers taught me so much! They helped me to get out of my shell and have more confidence in interacting with clients and being able to explain what I'm doing and why I'm doing it.
They helped me learn that failure is GOOD! It is so hard to fail! However, failing teaches you so much! Some dogs will completely blow you off even if you've worked really hard with them. This school understand this and just wants to see you doing your best and learning from each dog you work with. Patience is Key!! I also really appreciated them working with my class and changing things in order to teach us in the best way possible. There is a pretty good balance between classroom time and hands-on learning. I highly recommend Highland Canine's School for Dog Trainers!
