We have a seven year old Labrador Retriever named Winston who used to be very reactive to other dogs on a leash, which made walks and traveling extremely stressful. We would stick to the same routes, avoiding people and other dogs and when traveling, we often felt trapped in our car or limited to staying at our Airbnb despite choosing dog-friendly destinations.
After years of struggle and hitting a roadblock, I found K9 Ridgeside. Even though I was initially hesitant, Sarah took the time to explain their training options and made thoughtful recommendations for Winston's needs.
We were paired with Rich as our trainer and he has been phenomenal! Thanks to his guidance, we now feel confident walking Winston in busy areas and even taking him on trips. We've visited dog-friendly breweries and restaurants, walked through downtown and campus, and truly enjoyed outings that once felt impossible.
K9 Ridgeside has completely transformed our experience with Winston. We're so grateful for their expertise and highly recommend them to anyone struggling with reactive behavior in their dogs!

I can’t say enough about how wonderful the training is! I have a three-year-old serious working line German Shepherd.. He is very dog reactive, and sketchy around people.. I have been working with Rich and I am seeing fabulous results!! This is not cookie cutter training. Rich looks at the dog AND my abilities, and has worked out a training program that benefits both of us. My dog and I are enjoying the training and we are seeing great results!
We have a ways to go, but our progress is steady.. I appreciate Rich’s patience with me and his understanding of what my dog needs.. We are currently working on obedience, impulse control and managing behaviors.. In the long run, my Dog and I will both enjoy the freedom that a well trained Dog has!! I’m grateful to have found Ridgeside!

I had Annie about 3 months prior to contacting Ridgeline. I tried another month alone in training myself before committing to a boarding program.
Annie and I were at a standstill in training and reactivity. I gave them a shot and Ridgeside K9 NorCal Training brought me back the same Annie but with fundamentals to mainstream training and bonding by ourselves! Less then Two weeks later she is mostly off leash and strangers are asking me if I’m a dog trainer. Not a turn key program, you will have to work with your dog once they return but the rewards and progress was substantial for us. I personally dealt with Elissa and Rich and feel they are part of her family too now and encourage me to reach out with future issues.

My rescue dog, an 18 month old 75 pound German Shepherd, came to me with unknown training. He was difficult to walk on a leash and reacted badly to certain other dogs. I’ve had many dogs before, but I realized my skills at training were poor. I took him to Ridgeside K9 for individual instruction. Rich worked with Jet and I for 5 lessons. Jet is so much better now, and I understand how to continue his training. Rich is an excellent trainer, I highly recommend going to Ridgeside K9 for training!

We recently completed two week Puppy Training with our 13 week old Cane Corso Rocco. All staff from Ridgeside were sweet & helpful over the phone. We spoke to Sarah & Maddie who reassured us, this was the right program. Our Trainer Tish exceeded all expectations on basic commands including sit, heel and down stay. She helped enforce a calm demeanor with thresholds and stating neutral around ther dogs. She even introduced some challenges like walking on a treadmill successfully which with Rocco’s young age and breed would normally be a very difficult task. She kept communication lines open and allowed space for questions throughout the process. She had our pup during his first Christmas and Tish even put together a stocking with treats and gave him some extra love while our kids missed him during the holiday. We look forward to our follow up session and are happy we chose to be a part of the Ridgeside K9 family. Highly recommend! And I would ask for Tish or Maddie EVERY time

My boyfriend and I’s dog was trained by Rich at Ridgeside K9 and let me tell you.. it is well worth the investment. Arlo does amazing on and off leash and I feel confident he will be well behaved anywhere I take him. Arlo is neutral toward every person, dog or critter he comes across. He can be in the car with us for hours without complaint and easily goes into his crate whenever it’s time. We love being able to take Arlo on all our adventures, snowmobiling, dirt biking, camping or just on our runs.

I have had several dogs that I did not put through training and I was constantly stressed about taking them places and how they would interact with other people and dogs. The peace of mind that comes with having a well trained dog is well worth it. I highly recommend the Ridgeside team for all of your training needs. Whether it’s working on specific issues or wanting a dog that can do it all, Ridgeside has you taken care of.

I brought my 8 month old puppy to Ridgeside for the group classes. I wanted her to be pleasant to be around and to be safe. I knew that I needed training as much as she did. The class atmosphere was non threatening and gentle. My puppy enjoyed the classes and we both progressed weekly. At the end of the sessions she walks beside me on a slack leash and doesn’t try to stop and smell or eat things She stays in place, comes when called and doesn’t rush out of doors ahead of me. We know how to continue working at home and we both enjoy it. I have been encouraged to call Ridgeside if any problems occur. I strongly encourage anyone looking for a place to take their dog for training to check Ridgeside, you won’t disappointed.

We just got our puppy Eddie back from a three week board and train with Tish and Madison. They did an amazing job with him! You can tell they genuinely care about the dogs and their success, going above and beyond to make them happy and comfortable in their home. During this three week period they taught him how to listen, play responsible, relax when he becomes overly excited, and response to so many new and different commands that will make it easier for us to enjoy life with him. They were also super supportive with us teaching, answering questions, and staying in touch, sending numerous pictures and videos everyday with his progress. We are excited to continue working with them to improve on both Eddie and our skills. I would definitely recommend them to anyone else looking for a dog trainer.
