My daughter and I have been riding here for over 3 years. This is one of the few stables where adults can learn alongside the kids without leasing a horse. Kim is an encyclopedia of horse knowledge and she teaches riders to really communicate with their horses, not just hop on and be dragged around for the ride. She is a patient and thorough teacher and trainer. Riders here have the opportunity to learn dressage, team riding, agility, liberty, and training/working with horses. There are also a few added bonus experiences like riding on or learning how to drive carts. Kim is a world champion in agility. You can also board your horses here and they are well cared for and worked with. The grounds are BEAUTIFUL and you often get to ride in full view of the mountains with bald eagles as your audience. Highly recommend!

Kim, Jerry, and their staff are excellent. Our family has been going to horse camp here since 2007. The kids have loved it. This year one of our kids has done Horse Experience and is now on the drill team. Kim and staff know how to reach kids (and adults) and build their confidence with horsemanship.

We had our daughter’s 5th birthday party here 3 years ago and we’ve been doing lessons ever since and now also board our horse there. This place has quickly become a second home and Kim and Jerry like family. Cannot recommend it enough!

We celebrated our daughter's 7th birthday here at the Promenade Horsemanship Academy. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about horses. The staff were very patient and made sure the kids were safe. Not only the kids had fun riding the horses, they also learned about horses. The staff were educating the kids while they were riding the horses. Thank you Kim and staff for making our daughter's 7th birthday memorable.

Kim and Gerry are very sweet people who really care about their horses and it's evident in the way the horses behave and show affection to people. Her style of training is unique and uses a lot of body language, energy, and non-vocal cues that create a natural bond and mutual respect between the horse and you. Highly recommend riding there or boarding your horses there!

I don’t really know where to start because I have so many good things to say. As an adult, deciding to start riding can be kind of tricky - or so I thought. I started taking lessons a little while ago and the knowledge gained I can say with certainty, is incomparable. Kim teaches you the connection it’s possible to create between rider and horse and pays extra detail to noticing how to make both those lessons and the connections make sense for you. She has a very good way of noticing every little detail and doesn’t stop until you get it. She teaches you to respect the horse but also… respect yourself and build yourself up. I will come here as long as Kim will let me and who knew the horse she has me ride would also teach me so many lessons about myself just a few months in. I really recommend everyone taking their kids and themselves here. You won’t regret the valuable lessons you or your child will gain each week. If riding lessons isn’t in your budget right now, I also recommend Kim’s horse lessons from home in a private Facebook group - it’s been really helpful and could give you a real head start for when you do choose to start riding.

I've been taking lessons (drill/group, private, and semi-private) at Promenade Horsemanship Academy for around six months, and it's been nothing but a great time!

Overall, I just enjoy being there and Kim has so much knowledge and experience to share. I would have been thrilled to just learn how to stay on a horse and have fun riding it around, but Kim's teaching goes so far beyond that. I'm learning how to be in touch with myself and with the horses as I ride them; how and why our motions make horses move the way they do; and how to ride in a manner that keeps me safe and keeps the horses healthy and comfortable (as comfortable as having a human on your back can be, anyway!). I'm still a beginner, but I really feel this depth of understanding and awareness makes people really great riders.

Something I appreciate is that I can schedule lessons on evenings and weekends. I didn't expect it to be so easy to fit horseback riding into my busy adult life. Promenade is really conveniently located, too; it's only two or three miles east of the main part of Brighton, but still has the wide open country feel I associate with horses. The excellent view of the Rockies is a nice bonus, too.

If you're looking for a great place to riding horses near Brighton, definitely try Promenade Horsemanship Academy!
