Our pup looks like a million bucks! We were so grateful to get squeezed in on a cancellation. They were professional and thorough and asked several questions, and even offered to bathe our dog with hypoallergenic shampoo when I mentioned he is pretty itchy. They even gave him a little Giants bandana ?. We found our new spot!

Let me tell you about my experience with Angela, who I will always think of as “Angel.” Bridget, my 17 year old labradoodle/Wheaten Terrier mix was attacked by two dogs on an island in the Bahamas. Let me clarify that I don’t blame those dogs. After sailing to another island to find antibiotics, I ran into Angela two days later as I was on my way to the tiny clinic .

Angela’s love for dogs was immediately evident when she commented on Bridget’s advanced age and came over to pet her. When I told her why I was there, she insisted on taking a look at the wounds. Even though she was getting ready to go enjoy herself diving, she stayed with us…cleaning her wound, shaving her fur and patiently instructing me on how to cleanse and irrigate the wound efficiently. I can’t tell you how appreciative and grateful I am that she happened to be on that specific beach at that specific moment. Her kindness, gentleness with Bridget and her reassuring manner with me will not be forgotten. These islands are small, resources are limited, with no local veterinarians which made her willingness to help us even more gratifying ! Thank you!

Angela did an excellent job grooming our dog, Bentley. He's a two year old border mix rescue and a bit timid around strangers but did great with Angela. He even let her clip his nails. What a handsome boy he is now. I highly recommend Pride & Groom.

Warning: If you do not want to go through what I just suffered through, please read this. It's long, but I guarantee it's an interesting story, and one that every Marin pet owner should hear before going to this business. I had a very disappointing experience today with Pride and Groom. I will give it two stars because the haircut, itself, was good, and I am a fair person; however, I believe that the customer service is as much as a part of a successful business as the service itself. Unfortunately, Pride and Groom is an example of the worst in customer service. Background: I took my elderly golden retriever to them a year ago. She was groomed then, and it cost me $139. Expensive, but I knew it was costly. I took her again this year, and when I dropped her off, I asked and was told that the price would be the same. When I was called to pick her up, the owner said it had taken them several hours and the cost had now jumped to $229. Oh, and they only take cash. According to them, they have a policy on their crowded and messily written white board that says that $139 is a "base price" and that extra work would cost an unknown quantity more. In the course of the conversation, they accused me of not properly caring for my dog, because she had a substantial undercoat, and her nails were too long. I frequently wash my dog and brush her, but her coat can get fluffy, which is why I decided to get her professionally groomed in the first place. (I leave her coat alone in the winter as she loves being outdoors.) My feedback to the owner, which I tried to explain to no avail, was that if they want to go above the price they agreed to when I walked in the door, they should consider calling the me to explain the reason for such a steep price hike. I would then have the choice: accept the increase or come get my dog before they put the work in. Alternatively, they should make their open-price policy clear in the beginning, and I could then have the choice to accept it or go elsewhere. Seems reasonable, right? Then she suggested that even though my dog looked "cute" right now, she could cut her hair all the way down and make her look "like a german shepherd" if I wanted to pay the price we agreed to that morning--huh, sounded like revenge to me. I was stunned. I ended up saying that I would pay full price, because money is not my end goal--customer service is. Keep reading, it gets much better. Obviously, P&G is either used to what they probably deem "rich Marin pet owners" who can pay any cost, and/or they just don't care about their customers. I think it's both, in my opinion. The real exciting part was when I went to pick up my dog and the police were there! The owner then poured a paper bag of my dog's fur on the floor and showed me one toenail. I couldn't believe that the owner, Angela, actually wasted the police departments time over this matter! It reminds me of parents who go to the principal rather than have a conversation with the teacher about a disagreement in teaching philosophy. Meanwhile, as all this went on, a person with dementia went missing, but the police officers couldn't leave until our case was resolved. To help them out, I suggested that the officers try to urge her to agree to my original compromise. It took them two tries, but at last, she begrudgingly agreed. I hope my story makes you turn away from Pride and Groom. I had a bad feeling when I went a year ago, though I didn't know why. I should have listened to my gut. Below is a picture of my 14-year-old golden retriever right before I brought her in. Looks like a regular golden to me, and a well-loved one at that. (The longer version of this is on Yelp.) Thank you.

Wonderful groomers who took excellent care of my dog! Before I found Pride and Groom, I was very worried because my dog was suddenly in a lot of discomfort, and it turned out he needed his glands expelled urgently. None of the big box pet stores within 20 miles would make an exception to fit him in for this 5-minute task that was critical for his health. I called stores in 3 counties and none of them would even consider helping me. Finally I called Pride & Groom, and they were happy for me to bring in my dog immediately.

Not only did they do a great job addressing the important gland problem, they also trimmed my dog's nails and gave him a quick sanitary hair trim, all for a very reasonable price. They were so great to work with, they took care of the most important tasks to keep my dog healthy, and they did it all quickly and without making my dog upset. 100% happy with their service, and would definitely go back again!

First of all, I nearly did not try this business out due to the only review, which was NEGATIVE. But because I am an objective person and know how damaging negative (and wrongfully so) reviews can be to a business, I wanted to give it a try and decide for myself. Good thing I did. For starters, the facility is very clean. The owner was by herself and while she was busy and overwhelmed with the number of dogs in queue to get serviced she was very helpful - VERY. I wanted the "self-serve" version, where you wash your own dog and they provide the facilities, such as a big tub and power hoses and the products. This resulted in her teaching me how to do it and being available for me for help etc. My dog was very resistant (first time professional dog wash with a freaked out rescue dog) and the owner was very helpful when I needed an extra hand.

Re: fees,I know her prices are at minimum competitive, as I checked with a big box retailer that only provided full-service. Additionally, the owner was kind to my dog, clearly an animal lover, and a very hard worker. I highly recommend this business and will be using it again and recommending it to my dog-loving friends.
