We can’t recommend Paws Up Dog Training enough! Our 5-month-old Rottweiler, Bear, had become reactive towards dogs and people on walks, and his pulling made him harder to handle as he grew. From the first inquiry I had, Henry and the team were so professional, responsive, and willing to help. After just our first private lesson, we noticed a difference in Bear’s behavior, and the progress only continued from there. Henry was incredibly patient—not just with Bear but with me, as I quickly realized I needed the training just as much as my dog did!
When it was time for group classes, the idea was daunting, but Henry and his team guided us every step of the way. Group classes were very interactive and offered a controlled environment allowing us to build confidence in bringing Bear around other dogs and people. Now we can walk Bear at ease, and enjoy our daily walks so much more.
If you’re debating dog training, don’t hesitate—working with Paws Up Dog Training is worth every penny!

As a first time dog owner, I’m very thankful for Henry and the Paws Up Dog Training team for helping me build a great relationship with my dog.
My wife and I reached out to Henry on the Paws Up Dog Training Instagram page after he was recommended to us by a friend. After discussing the individual and group package, we agreed to enroll our 16 week old chow chow/husky puppy. It was great to work with Henry and he was able to develop an instant connection with both us and our puppy. After the first lesson, our puppy was already responding better to being on-leash and after following some recommended techniques, we found that our puppy was already compliant with basic commands. We were very impressed with the way that Henry worked with our dog in individual classes, but it was the group classes that we felt were especially valuable for us and our dog; the socialization with other humans and many other dog breeds/sizes is amazing and has had a lasting impact on our doggo. Highly recommend Paws Up for anyone looking for a dog trainer!

We had a great experience with Henry. Before training, our dog Cooper was highly reactive towards other dogs, often lunging and barking. We couldn't be near any dogs and had to avoid them on walks entirely. After training with Henry, Cooper can now settle down and remain calm around other dogs. We can confidently take him with us to breweries, hikes, and runs. Our friends and neighbors have all noticed and praised his improvement.

Henry emphasizes training the owners as much as the dog. In our private sessions, he equipped us with effective tools and taught us how to handle situations where Cooper reacted. Henry built up our confidence and prepared us for various scenarios we might encounter. He also enhanced our relationship with Cooper, teaching us how to stay engaged, offer praise and rewards, and correct behavior when needed.

Group classes were crucial for Cooper's progress. Initially challenging due to the proximity of other dogs, Henry provided invaluable support. He gave us constructive feedback and demonstrated techniques to help us improve. We felt comfortable asking questions, and Henry's guidance was instrumental in Cooper's significant advancements throughout the classes.

We're now looking forward to advancing to higher-level classes with Henry. Cooper's progress has us excited about continuing our work with him.

My dog is a 1 year and a half old Chihuahua, he is my first dog and I am 28 with no prior experience with dogs. I would go to dog parks, beaches and stores with my dog but he has a tendency to misbehave (ie: pull on leash, ignore commands, get out of his harness, and go up to dogs who could be a potential hazard to him since he is a very small dog). One day we were at the beach and he pulled so hard on his harness that he managed to escape, I was able to grab him before he ran off but that was my last straw. One of my local pet shops (Citipawz) had Paws Up Dog Training posted on one of their stories and I took that as a sign to enroll him. I contacted Henry (who is the dog trainer) he answered and explained all his packages it seemed a little pricey at first, but at the same time my dog could not be out in the world untrained. So I decided to take his “Sambu” package and started in Aug. Private classes were awesome because Henry would see what I was doing wrong and corrected me. Sometimes I would not understand a command/training and Henry was patient enough to go over it until I understood it. During the week, I would contact Henry and ask him questions about what I was doing wrong and he would answer within the hour and he would instruct me and lead me and my dog to the right direction. We would train everyday for about 30-45 min. (I must emphasize its a two way street where we as the owner have to put in the work for our dogs to be successful along with Henrys advice)

Private lessons ended, group classes started. Both me and my dog were NERVOUS, but what we learned in private class was being implemented during group class, (so this wasn’t new information) Group classes would get my dog used to other dogs (big and small). After a few group classes my dog would stop shaking (out of fear) and be more comfortable in class. Henry makes the classes welcoming, easy, and enjoyable.
I would 100% recommend these classes to all my family members and friends because my dog’s behavior and obedience had significantly improved.

If you've been thinking about signing up for Paws Up Dog Training, this is your sign to do it now! Trust me, it will be the best investment you make for your pup. It absolutely was for us!

As a first-time dog owner, I didn't realize some of the things we let Chester do were contributing to his bad habits and behaviors. He was extremely reactive towards other dogs and occasionally aggressive towards strangers, which made walks and outings stressful. But always leaving him at home made me feel guilty. So I knew a change was necessary.

We did the Sambu package which is 10 weeks - 5 weeks of privates and 5 weeks of group classes. I already started to see so much progress just after 1-2 weeks. Henry taught us so much about Chester and ourselves as dog owners. He provided that structure that was lacking and was always so patient with us. I always had questions throughout the weeks and Henry was always very responsive.

Transitioning to group classes was nerve-wracking at first, stepping into a new environment with other dogs around. However, Henry and the Paws Up Dog Training team always made us feel comfortable and supported. I really enjoyed group sessions because it allowed us to put into practice everything we'd learned in the private lessons in a controlled, safe setting. The PUDT community is really something special!

Training with Paws Up Dog Training has truly been life-changing. It's equipped us the skills and confidence to enjoy life with Chester to the fullest. I can't thank Henry and the Paws Up Dog Training crew enough!!

I found Paws Up Dog Training through Instagram. I watched videos for Henry's training approach and joined an open pack walk to see how other dogs in the program behaved prior to signing up.

My dog Rocky was a year old. I have had dogs my whole life, up to three at a time. So I have experience training and handling dogs, not anything competition, service, or tactical, but Rocky was potty trained in a week and knew basic commands straight away. Smart boy, but he was tiring me out and embarrassing me with his loud manners in public. My two major peeves were that he would be super excited and incessantly bark upon meeting regular dog walking friends and not being able to settle. Also, in his excitement to get moving, he would bite and thrash his leash to the point I could not hang on. I needed help and turned to Henry.

Now, we know that much of obedience training is training the owner. Henry, is able to watch how I handle my dog and helps me make effective corrections. I signed up for the Sambu package where we had private one on one classes and then progressed to group classes. I was looking forward to group classes because Rocky is an only dog (child) and needed to learn how to behave quietly around other dogs so we needed the practice.

At the time of this review, we have finished our 10 week program and continue once a week with group classes. I tell everyone that Rocky's demeanor has really changed and he has grown up a lot. I would say his aforementioned habits are 85% better already. Just last week, he laid down in a neighbor's garage next to two other dogs only barking for treats at the neighbor when they were being handed out (or not fast enough). I take him to dog friendly restaurants and vendor fairs more often and have gotten many compliments on how well behaved he is.

I look forward to continuing his training with Henry and the Paws Up team. If you're a first time dog owner, or even a seasoned dog parent, I highly recommend Paws Up. You build a working bond between you and your dog and it translates into their personality and behavior far beyond classes you may find in a pet store, recreational center, or what you may think you can do on your own like me. It is well worth the investment.

We had a great experience training with Henry and The Paws Up Team! We had recently got a new puppy and wanted to get him started on the right path and found Henry thru a mutual friend. From day one we instantly knew that him and his team were there to guide us thru the challenges of raising a puppy and getting him to settle and overall be calm around people and other pets. From one-on-one training Henry provided the tools to really focus on certain behaviors we were hoping to perfect, like heeling on walks, stop demand barking, and learning to settle at home. After our one-on-one trainings we also joined group classes that then started exposing our puppy to other dogs and people without having to always greet and or say hi to everyone. It was truly helpful, as we live in an apartment complex and didn’t want our pup to drag us towards people or other dogs. I cannot say enough good things about Henry and his team and they were really there for us thru the different stages of having a growing puppy.

Signing up with Paws Up Dog Training was the best decision we could’ve made for our pup! We wanted to train our three month old dachshund before he developed any unwanted behaviors. Through PUDT, we learned that not only do “Trained dogs have more fun.”, but trained dog parents do as well. We were nervous to start group training because we were unsure how our pup would react around larger dogs. Very quickly we realized that with the one on one structure training, our pup had developed good attention skills and would disregard other dogs. Approximately a year later, we got a second dachshund and he loved to bark! We repeated the same training, Sambu package, and now we can go for a walk, passing many dogs, and our pup doesn’t react. Henry and his team are the best! We are more than satisfied with Paws Up Dog Training! ?
