Paws for life is a great and valuable resource to the community especially with their free dog training courses. The staff is nice and their trainers really do care and really do know how to address issues. They work very hard and are passionate about what they do. I have had a great experience with them. The only thing is that their training classes do fill up quickly throughout the month, so be sure to check in often. They also have a socialize play groups which I’m hoping to eventually get my dog into. Dogs do need to be assessed by an individual trainer prior to social play groups. It’s also very nice location near some pretty parks and the grounds are well-maintained and clean.

This is a great place to rescue a dog from. Not only are the staff and the facility great, they have an incredible program with the local juvenile hall where the kids train the dogs. So not only are you doing a great thing rescuing a dog, the kids in juvenile hall get an extra sense of purpose with the dog program and the adopter gets a trained dog. Chris Murray runs the dog program between paws for life and the juvenile hall and was incredibly helpful and great to work with.

Do not come here (Mission Hills location) BY ANY MEANS. The owner is the worst person I’ve ever experienced. We visited 3 times for one particular dog, and we were told by different people that he was available. We explained that we were in communication with another employee who would hold the dog for us, so when we came in, there was a miscommunication and he was already adopted and has a transport date in place. We were told to come in via email and so we came in one last time and the woman we spoke with not only spoke over us, but she was rude, passive aggressive, and down right a mean person. We never got her name, but she is blonde with an accent. Go anywhere else because if this is how they treat potential adopters, I can’t imagine how they treat the animals.

I can’t say enough about this organization. I have 3 dogs from here the first we got 11 years ago. They work very hard to save dogs many previously deemed unadoptable. from basic 6 weeks of prison training all the way to service dogs. They are strict on their adoption practices to make sure the dogs and their families are in sustainable, safe loving homes. We have a horse ranch with everything from horses, goats to rabbits & cats and have fostered many dogs and puppies for them to help evaluate their in home behavior and adaptability with their potential family members furry or otherwise. The bonus is the staff, the guys are a wonderful, caring and knowledgeable group of dog whisperers. Take advantage of the free training they offer any dog whether they were adopted here or not! Total Thumbs up!

Highly recommend anyone looking for a pet to visit Paws For Life. The facilities are great, and it’s clear they take amazing care of their animals and do everything they can to make sure they go to homes that are happy, safe and well-suited for each individual pet.

The first pup I adopted from PFL unfortunately wasn’t a good fit due to some behavioral issues and lifestyle incompatibility (these issues were unknown to PFL when I adopted), and I was SO impressed by their process and care when I very sadly had to bring him back. They were extremely understanding and took a very thorough report of my experience to make sure the next home he is placed in is the best possible one for him.

They also keep in touch during the initial weeks after adopting and are available for free training. When I’m ready to adopt again I will definitely be back! Adopt don’t shop!!

And if anyone has a large yard and wants a super smart, adorable, loyal, highly trainable (house trained, crate trained and knows lots of tricks from the month I had him) protector dog who just needs a little extra help and an experienced owner to be well-adjusted, PLEASE meet Yankee!! He is a dream dog who just needs the right environment.

Thank you PFL!

This is the second time my training appointment has been canceled. I’ve yet to train with them because they keep canceling last minute. It sucks because I put time aside to attend and was really excited. My dog really needs it

We tried adopting through this organization. We were very excited and completed a home visit and pet meet and greet. We went during the time their adoption fee was being waived. Shortly after we're asked if we could pay the fee.

Being asked if we could pay for it when it is being waved made me feel that they were making assumptions of what we could or could not afford.

During our visit we were told there was no one else on the list or waiting to adopt the dog we were interested in adopting.

We agreed to PAY since we were interested in adopting despite being told it was waived.

After a third consultation or investigation (not sure what they call it) we were informed there was another potential adopters all along and they would be moving forward with them.

Mind you we were told we were the first ones interested in this pet. The individual who helped us after the initial visit was very misleading and didn't seem to want us to adopt a pet.

Going back and forth with multiple calls and visits she should have informed us they had another potential adopters. Not sure how it works or why she decided to just skip us.

My family and I felt very discriminated and mislead. Unfortunately, purchasing was a better experience than trying to adopt.

Hope they don't continue to discriminate and mislead families looking to adopt.

BEST place to adopt a dog. They come spade or neutered. Microchiped, and the vet is the next door over. Training is also included.
Did I mention prison.
Yeap, you can send your dog to jail. 6 weeks of training, and then they come home.
The staff is personable, and you can tell they love animals. They are more than willing to answer your question.
The dogs have a giant area to run around in outside.
