I called and talked to a very nice gentleman. He answered all of my questions to the best of his ability. He suggested that I talk with the lady who does intake, as she would be able to further assist me in getting my child help through here or referring me to something closer to home (we live in WI.) He informed me that she was already out for the weekend and that she would be back in on Monday. He told me that he will have her give me a call and discuss options with me. He transferred me to her voicemail and I left a message with my name and number and even gave her a brief summary of what has been going on with my daughter. I had stated in the voicemail that if I wasn’t able to get to the phone, to leave a message and I would get back to her ASAP. I was extremely disappointed, as I did not receive a call or a message. Monday came and went and I never heard from her. It has now been over a couple of weeks and I still haven’t heard anything back. Super frustrating. I wouldn’t waist my time with them ever again.

This ministry is more then just a "home" for troubled kids! This a second family! I can personally test to that. I used to live here 20 years ago. And I'm still involved in the ministry. My houseparents that I had are currently still there. These 2 amazing individuals taught me how it is to be loved unconditional. The pour into each child as they were they own. Not only is this ministry here to help the children, but the family also. They focus on giving the kids and parents the tools to be able to live functional lives. The way I raise my 2 kids now & my walk with God is because of this home! The love that each staff members has for this ministry & God shows in their everyday life!

I personally know that everyone here has every kids best interest at heart. I know from experience that the people who work here are amazing and care about the kids. I’ve built long life friendships and family from being at the home and I’ve learned how to love. I have a better relationship with my family, so the home is perfect for any concerns you have with your child. As for any negative reviews on this page, you should really look into WHO is saying those things.

Update: I keep receiving emails about this review and I just have to say even years later, I still can not believe I was ever placed in such a place. The emotional trauma caused by being left here is still so real and raw to this day. I never saw my mom but a max of 3 times I believe and we never had any therapy together or anything offered. The “vacation home” some speak of is simply the other house we have to stay at when the “house parents” go on vacation so we stay next door. It’s nothing for the kids that stay there. They offer zero help. It’s simply a place for a child to be “dropped off” and left. I never once saw a grieve counselor or any type for that matter. Just sleep, clean, and school. I hope parents, caregivers, grandparents, whoever is reading this to please look for help else where for your situation.

If I could give less stars I definitely would. I was personally at this place for some part of my life awhile back. This place is ran very wrong. You have no self freedom, they don't help children with anything. You wake up go to school come home and hang out until dinner time then do waterever until you take a shower then go to bed. There's no counseling or daily things they do to help with any behavior problems. Its like you were at home but with other people and a schedule. That's it. If you send your children here, I feel bad for them. I am now married with a son and our own house. A wonderful life that I have made for myself along side with my husband. And that place didn't help me one bit in life. Terrible wrong place for children.

Adoption is a beautiful but sometimes the love of a family is not enough when caring for children with severe trauma and behavioral issues. That’s where Oblong Children’s Christian Home comes alongside families and provides a safe, therapeutic environment where children may learn to function in a healthier way. Their staff is very professional and has years of experience in reaching troubled children. While Oblong is a residential treatment facility the children live in home settings with qualified therapeutic House parents. There are two boys houses and one girls house as well as a respite house that give the children a sense of family away from home. They utilize equine therapy, as well as countless intervention techniques and tailor the therapies to the individual child based upon their needs. They not only work with the children, but also with the entire family and help give everyone the tools necessary to manage the challenges that troubled children may bring to families. They instill discipline with grace and compassion and help these children learn that hard work is a vital component in achieving success in their everyday endeavors. Most importantly they give the children an opportunity to have Christ as the foundation for their lives and encourage them to seek a personal relationship with the Lord. They have an excellent working relationship with the community and partner with medical, psychiatric and educational professionals to provide the best opportunity for success for these children. Oblong has helped our daughter and our family In countless ways and we can’t begin to thank them enough for the way they have continued to minister us on this difficult journey.

This place is more than a home u learn new things all the time. You feel loved,u learn new things u like that u knew u didn’t you do things u like and learn new experiences this place is more than just a home it was definitely a home to me they are loving people they give chance after chance they go to above and beyond for you the children home is definitely a place to send a kid 💯💯 if I could go back I would u just have to be able to adjust to a new place it’s not easy but once u do u start seeing changes and realizing god bless everyone at the home ❤️~ OPHELIO

My sister goes to oblong and until recently I’ve had the opportunity to come visit and tour the campus. It’s a wonderful place and they have so many great things to offer the kids. I’m always updated on what activities they are up to and accomplish. I’m proud of the progress my sister has overcome and will continue to do. The staff is super accommodating and polite, I love the overall environment.

2 office staff and respite parents who REALLY care. Everyone else should be throughly investigated. Board of directors doesn't have a clue. Be careful proceed with caution. ⚠️
