We rescued a golden retriever puppy a few months ago and asked our neighbor where their very well behaved dog had been trained and they referred us to Zoe and John at Misfits. Thank goodness they did because our June has learned so much and is a great member of our household. Golden puppies are notoriously crazy until even 3 years old but we started seeing John when June was about 3-4 months and he really helped us dial in a routine and structure with her that we felt was manageable and appropriate for our pup. As part of the program we'd meet with John every other week to work on something new, building on the foundation as we went. He was great about giving us clear homework to be working on with June in between sessions and was always responsive when we reached out with questions. Once she was old enough June went through their board and train program with Zoe, already with a strong foundation and came out of the program with even more knowledge and skills. Shes now an excellent on leash walker, we have complete trust in her off-leash, she can relax in 'place' while at home which is great for while I work or we're cooking etc and overall is just a well-mannered dog at just 7 months. It has really helped us set June up for success for years and years to come. Thank you MisFits!

John is amazing! He helped train my 2 girls. He always showed them love and really helped build their confidence. He is kind and really a joy to be around! I miss our weekly training sessions but I know if I ever have a question with training I can reach out! Thank you for everything!

Misfits Dog Training has been an amazing support in training our mixed breed puppy. We started with a 4-session private puppy training package that helped us learn how to engage with Teddy and to begin working with him on crate training, house training, and loose leash walking. He recently finished a 3-week Board and Train Obedience program that has set the foundation for several basic commands, including place, sit-stay, down, and crate. He’s also developing with his threshold training and learning to wait until he is released to leave his crate or go through doorways and we’re also beginning the process of heel walking. It’s made such a huge difference in his behavior, reducing his leash pulling, jumping, and just general behavior. The follow up sessions since the Board and Train have been great for reinforcing and continuing his training. It’s great to know that at 6 months old, Teddy is well on his way to being a well-behaved member of our family who we can enjoy for years to come thanks to the help of Zoe and Christine at Misfits Dog Training!

Jon with Misfits dog training has been such a huge blessing to our lives.

As I said to him today “he gave us our house back”. Our veteran dog, Booker, has a reactive past and dog aggression. This created a very tense home life environment for everyone. We kept our dogs separated…alternating potty trips, eating, and play time. It was exhausting.
The biggest tool Jon left us with was getting our dogs on “place” and staying there until released from the space along with necessary tools for walks. I am no longer getting drug along on walks.

Thank you for your time and commitment to our doggos!

John and Zoe are true professionals, after all 3 week board and train out puppy was a changed dog. You can tell how much they enjoyed their line of work by how much of a connection they make with the dogs they train. 10/10 will recommend them to my family and friends.

John is an amazing trainer! He is patient, clear, and supportive. He understood my fears and helped me and my dog Luke work through reactivity. He focused on building our dog/handler relationship. Now I am confident walking my big dog weighing in at 115 lbs and Luke is happy! I know we both have the skills to keep working and practicing!! Thanks John!

I had a couple of friends recommend misfits dog training for my Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. It has taken a huge weight off my shoulders and has provided peace of mind to both myself and my dog. Zoe has helped him tremendously by teaching him place, heel, recall, and stay positions. Now I can reinforce these behaviors with him to make both our lives easier. She was so professional and knowledgeable and I had complete trust in the process. I highly recommend misfits to anyone needing any level of dog training from puppy to adult dogs.

John at Misfits Dog Training is amazing! We've had a few sessions and have already seen a difference with our pup, Andouille! I love that he gives us homework to do with Andouille so we can practice training him between sessions. It is also extremely helpful when he explains how the dogs mind works and why we do different techniques. That helps us understand our pup a little more and really creates that special bond with him! 10/10 recommending!!
