What a wonderful place. My husband and I recently adopted a pony named applesauce. This pony had such a hard life before Mile High and he just needed to catch a break. Maria and Emily helped me get him loaded up and on his way to my house. Applesauce was very attached to another pony there and they even let me bring home his friend for a couple days to help ease the transition.

You must be ā€œin the cliqueā€ at this place. My daughter tried to volunteer here to get some time with the horses. Well, apparently we didn’t didn’t qualify for the clique - they canceled sessions without notifying anyone; told kids/volunteers they would get time with the horses but that rarely happened. Basically if you don’t own a horse or have šŸ’µ, they’ll just use you until you decide it isn’t worth it. Just a tax write-off for a bunch of rich people and their horses. Stay away.

Mile High Rescue takes amazing care of all of their horses -- rescues and boarders alike. I bought my horse (a rescue) from them last January, and we could not be a better match. The process was seamless - from the PPE to getting all of my questions answered with all of the appropriate paperwork. So glad to be a part of the Mile High Rescue family!

This is a wonderful group that cares about horses and has plenty of volunteer opportunities as well. My kids just attended an Easter event there and had a good time riding horses and hunting for Easter eggs.

Maria Lawson and Emily Klimas, owners of Mile High Rescue, knowingly sold me a horse that they did not legally own. It was a 10-month-long nightmare to gain legal ownership of my beloved Lucy. For the full story, visit MHR’s Facebook page and read my review. Due to Google’s character limit, I can’t ā€œspill the teaā€.

I’m giving 2 stars because the facilities are very clean and the horses are well cared-for. I’ll keep my remaining 3 stars because this rescue knowingly involves unsuspecting adopters into the illegal sale of livestock animals.

I come from an extensive background of high end performance horses, and over the years I’ve become extremely picky with how my horses are taken care of. After meeting Emily and Maria, I knew that their standards were just as high as mine and decided to bring my yearling show horse to their property to board. I’ve had her there for a month now, and I’m beyond happy with my decision to keep her here.

The staff’s attention to detail is top-notch (which is huge for me!!). The stalls are constantly clean with fresh shavings, the water buckets scrubbed of any hay and filled with fresh water, and there’s always high quality hay in front of my horse!

And the minute something isn’t right with your horse you’re getting a text/call from Emily and Maria—whether it be something that needs emergency attention or something small to keep an eye on. My horse had a swollen leg after a 12-hour trailer ride that I knew about but they still kept me posted on how it looked every day!

I also love knowing that there’s always someone there to keep an eye on my horse, whether it’s 6 in the morning or 10 at night.

It’s an older facility, but the staff at Mile High are constantly working to improve it, and it has great bones! There are multiple arenas, all with great footing, and it’s never overly busy. The indoor wash rack is a huge plus during the winter months, and the outdoor turnouts are constantly being updated—whether it’s something small like replacing a gate, or something big like fixing the dirt to eliminate any mud.

I’m so happy with my decision to keep my horse here and know she’s going to be getting the same quality of care that she would have received at a high end show barn. Thank you to everyone at Mile High for all that you do!

My daughter absolutely loves taking lessons here. We've also started volunteering and absolutely love getting to know the horses and staff. They put on a lot of fun fundraisers, camps etc. They take very good care of their horses and teach the kids (and parents) all the important things to know when taking care of and riding horses!

I am so grateful to be part of the MHR family. All of the horses are so happy and well taken care of. The community of volunteers working with the rescues is amazing- collaborative, welcoming, and passionate. Whether you’re looking to board your horse or find a place to volunteer (or both!) MHR is where it’s at. I love it so much.
