The Mellow Moon Lodge isn't your average roadside motel. This fully renovated throwback motel has fresh and updated rooms, including beautiful decor and accommodations. We stayed in a Double Queen Suite which provided ample room to store all of our ski gear for a family of 4, while also providing comfortable beds, a spacious bathroom, a small living space, and some kitchen space for storing/preparing food. The space was clean and well maintained, and the text communication at check-in and for daily service was truly impeccable. I am typically NOT a fan of motels, but this one will majorly exceed all your expectations. We will definitely stay here again on a future winter ski trip as Wolf Creek is only about a 40 minute drive. Electronic access to a canteen with some snacks/drinks (pay as you go); ice machine and filtered water fountain was nice to keep us hydrated! It was also a wonderful surprise to have plates/bowls/cups/silverware available for our use in the room. Though not a full kitchen, a crock pot I brought helped us use it as if it were, in addition to the mini fridge and microwave provided in room. One final unexpected touch, was a puzzle and a couple of board games in room that gave us some fun during down times.

Stayed with our dog in 2 rooms for 2 nights over Thanksgiving ‘24. It’s a good mix of old motel style and great new upgrades. Lauren, owner/proprietor, is very kind and helpful. Beds and showers are fabulous. Located within walking distance of food and beer/wine markets, downtown dining venues and parks for dog walking. I had a great time and will be happy to return!

We had a really, really lovely stay here and will be back soon. We met Lauren (owner) this morning who opened the shop (rodeo mercantile) up early for us. We got a mug and some artwork! We were traveling with a baby and two dogs and spent a lot of time in the room. It was super comfortable.

This woman owned motel is newly renovated & super cute! The service I received after having to cancel due to inclement weather and re-book was phenomenal! Lauren took great care in communicating with us. The rooms had new flooring, really comfortable bedding with a good design. The water pressure could be improved and the room felt a little stark but the in-room fridge, and common area canteen was a lifesaver! Del Norte is lucky to have such a thoughtful spot to be a home base your adventures!

Mellow Moon Lodge is such a cute place!! To start, the owner, Lauren is the sweetest, most down-to-earth person. We were originally booked for 3 nights but couldn't make it the first night because of work commitments and she was very flexible with us. Additionally, every morning during our stay a text message came in from her wishing us a good day and letting us know that fresh coffee and fixings were in the lounge and if we needed anything, to just reach out. In fact all the staff we encountered were warm and friendly. The room was clean and quaint, with funky decor and recommendations for places to eat and visit. They were pretty full the couple nights we were there, but the other guests were quiet and respectful. We are excited to come back when their restaurant opens!

Such a cute little spot. Lauren the owner was such a sweetheart and so accommodating. Love all of the eco friendly/organic touches in the room and in the Canteen! Easiest check in/out process.
Pet friendly as well. When the coffee shop is up and running this place is going to be a dream!

This was a wonderful experience. We were headed to the Sand Dunes, and everything closer had horrific reviews (which I tend to find close to the National Parks. No where else to stay, so why do a good job?)

Check-in was via text and was simple and easy. Even after booking through a 3rd party.

The room was simple and just what we needed. The bed was comfortable, and we slept well.

The shower was pretty great by hotel standards.

They had a water filling station, which was perfect before heading to the park.

They have a little store with snacks and other items available.

Look at the pictures and know where you're staying. This is a great roadside hotel and I'm sure it will get better over time as well.

If you’re staying (or staycationing) in the SLV, I highly recommend this lodge! The interior decoration, and attention to detail and cleanliness was fantastic! I was referred here by a friend. It came in handy when my previous lodging fell through. This location was very convenient off the main highway through Del Norte, a small rural drive to Alamosa and Mosca. Easy to access the rooms, Lauren gave us clear instructions on how to get in, get into the (lovely) canteen and lounge areas. These are both very useful spaces to stock up on goods, and hang out solo or in a group.

This is an eco business, with a lovely curation of body products and coffee/tea. The bed was comfortable, linens were clean and overall felt at home, without the wastefulness of regular hotels and bnb’s.

My only feedback; improvement on the wifi connection/bandwidth, internet was pretty laggy/slow for the majority of the stay. I also think some extra tables near the coffee/fridge area in the rooms would be good for more counter space. Perhaps a couple more metal patio chairs outside the rooms.

My partner and I had a wonderful stay here for our anniversary. Female owned and operated with cozy mid-century mod vibes. Everything is newly renovated, clean and welcoming. I will 100% be staying again the next time I return to the valley to visit family and friends. Thank you, Lauren!
