Free to visit the exterior, parking lot is free, pay your respects to Martin Luther King and the civil rights movement. I would encourage you to pay to enter the national civil rights museum and you can see the interior of MLKs room.

Oh my gosh, history is great. Come on sunday as it is not that busy. Took less than 10 minutes to get in, not crowded. Tons of history with MLK. Please buy tickets in advance, veterans, and under 4 get free tickets. Tickets up to 20 dollars

I visited coming back through Memphis from Louisiana but didn’t pay the $20 to go into the museum, just wanted to see how it looked and they preserved it well and left a lot of things as-is from the assassination. I’m quite familiar with the civil rights movement and it’s not a nps site covered by the pass so just moved along and kept my money after seeing the outside.

Great learning experience. Guides were very informative. The rooms where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stayed are set up just like he had them. Amazing part of history. A must see!!!

The exhibits are set up in a way that take you through African-American, America history from colonial times to present. It was eye-opening to read and really take it all in. To be able to stand where the great Dr. King Jr. spent his last moments and remember him - I can't explain how it feels. If you really want to see the history, plan to spend about 1/2 a day here to be able to get through the 20+ exhibits. This is a must do if you're in Memphis.

One of the most memorable museums I've ever been to. To be where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spent his last moments alive was truly a moving experience. There is much history to learn in this museum and it's definitely worth carving out the whole day just to visit it. This museum does a fabulous job at telling the history of the Civil Rights Movement and the overall story of Black Americans starting from the Transatlantic Slave Trade through slavery in the US, Reconstruction, Jim Crow, and the Civil Rights Movement. It's a must see if you have an interest in all these topics and Agendas History in general. Highly recommend.

Visited on a Tuesday - The museum was not open. The hotel had some maintenance occurring to various rooms and outside appearances. But we were still able to focus on why we came and had a quiet, unbothered eexperience. Other visitors, despite race & ethnicity, were pleasant and it seemed we were all there for the same reason. No one spoke loudly or interfered with others.

Loved it. This is a very informative museum that thoroughly explains how slavery started and the people who sacrificed to fight against it. MLK was killed here, and they preserved the actual room, and then the rest of what used to be the hotel is now the civil rights museum.
