Loved the small town cafe feel when we walked in. Even though it was outdated, it was clean and the staff was very kind and friendly. I noticed the painting from Clementine Hunter so I was excited to see that picture right where we sat.
My friend and I wanted to experience the meat pie specifically from here because it happened to be in my 1000 places to see before you die book.
We were both a little disappointed with it but realized it was towards the end of the day so the crust was just not that good. May have to do a do over and come in more towards 11 or 12 pm.
Now as for the red beans and rice with the sausage now that was the bomb diggity! We split it and so glad we did because we were so full. The only reason we gave 4 stars was due to that sad meat pie.

I recently tried the Meat Pie platter, Gumbo, beef stew and creole pasta salad here. The flavors were definitely a highlight – everything tasted great! Food is delicious! I'm not from Louisiana but I felt like a local eating here. I got the breakfast meat pie with grits, and omg! So good! The service was excellent and friendly. So were the ppl eating in there. Super friendly place. Highly recommend

Second time here, had breakfast. Shrimp n grits were fantastic. Grits were so creamy and nice with lots of shrimp. Their meat pies are also delicious.

So happy we chose to eat here. I had the meat pie and dirty rice. So delicious! My husband had the crawfish meat pie, which he said was also very good. Will make a point to stop again if I’m in the area.

Drove an hour out of our way and was well worth it. Wanted authentic Louisiana meat pies. I just had the pie and my son had the dinner. Everything was delicious. Perfect size lunch. Quick Service and quaint atmosphere. Extra friendly employees. Highly recommended

Glad we stopped here for lunch. The shrimp poboy was fantastic. My french fries were kinda cold, though. The meat pies needed some red pepper for our taste, but otherwise everything was good. Seating was limited and the place was packed when we arrived.

My family came to Natchitoches for the festival of lights. We had lunch here on what I'm sure is one of the busiest days of the year. We got there right when they opened at 11am and the restaurant was already full with a line forming down the street. We all ordered the meat pie basket. I ordered mine with red beans and rice and my fiance and his parents had Cajun dirty rice. We were seated in the back room. I enjoyed reflecting on the history of the world-famous restaurant. Our server was kind enough to offer a sucker to my FIL who was struggling with blood sugar issues. The food was hot and fresh. However, it was definitely not as flavorful as I would have expected. I added salt and pepper to my red beans and rice. The meat pie was crispy and delicious. Overall, the atmosphere was nice, service was quick...all things considered. The menu has a ton of other options for salad, sandwiches, and seafood. I would definitely eat here again and try another dish. Maybe during the "off-season" though.
