I retained Julie Colt because my 80-pound dog was pulling so hard that I sustained an injury to my arm. Julie is different than other dog trainers. She provides a holistic approach, examine food, leashes, collars, the dog's teeth, and more. Then she works with the dog first, teaching the dog and the client how to work with the dog humanely. After two sessions, my dog no longer pulled. And I switched from a prong collar to a Martingale coupled with a Gentle Leader. Julie is awesome.

Julie is an AMAZING dog trainer, the "sensei of dogs" is what I call her. She has this way with animals, like she is speaking their language. We called her out initially to work with our lab/shepherd mix named Bode who is a super sweet dog, but has bad manners when people come to the door (he gets super excited, barks, jumps up on them, etc). The first time we had her come to work him (he had no prior exposure to her/experience with her), she walked in the door and within seconds, her posture and gestures communicated to him that his excited behavior was not going to get him what he wanted. He almost immediately stopped barking and sat, so that he could get her attention. It was amazing, like he knew just what she wanted of him - and yet this was the first time they had ever met! She gave us some great tips and tricks for working with him to improve his "greeting" behaviors. From there we've had her come to work with our new puppy. She is so great at no only training the animals, but us humans as well, so that we know how to properly interact with, communicate, and encourage proper behavior with our dogs. She is one of the few dog trainers in the area that uses humane methods (no spray bottles or train through punishment), which is such a breath of fresh air. I highly recommend Julie to anyone who is looking to bring out the best in their dog!!
