We are so glad we found out about this place! My cat got sick, and we paid around $700 at another clinic without even getting a diagnosis. On Facebook, everyone unanimously recommended Maksim Ilyukhin and his clinic. We had almost lost hope that anything could be done, but we decided to give it a try—and it was worth it! The care for animals here is outstanding, Dr. Maks is a true professional, and they helped us, provided recommendations, special food, and supportive medications—all for just $150. I really wish more people knew about this place and trusted their pets health only to proven specialists.

Our favorite veterinary clinic - I’d drive from anywhere around Chicago just to make sure my pets see doctor Max. He truly cares about animals and always makes sure that they receive the best treatment possible, without dragging you through unnecessary stress and procedures that don’t work. Always straight to the point! And nurses are just amazing, always very kind and accommodating.
Plus, it’s one of the only clinics that helped us with international travel certificates when everyone else said that they can do nothing.

I want to give a big shout-out to Max and the team at Island Lake Veterinary. The staff was friendly and welcoming. They did a fantastic job with my puppy’s surgery, which took a few hours. I appreciated their thorough approach; they asked us to keep our puppy there until she woke up to ensure he was feeling alright.

The staff kept me updated throughout the process, which eased my worries. The facility was clean, and everyone was so caring and attentive. I felt confident that my puppy was in great hands. Highly recommend this place for anyone needing surgical care for their pets!

We would like to express our immense gratitude to Dr. Max Ilyukhin and his team. They saved our beloved dog. The doctor performed surgery on our nine-year-old German Shepherd and saved her life.

We were also provided with detailed information on how to care for our dog during the recovery process. Another clinic quoted us a price 2.5 times higher.

I cannot in good faith recommend this veterinarian clinic to anyone. I went here five years ago for exotics and Dr. Max’s bedside manner was off putting. I gave him the benefit of the doubt he was perhaps having a bad day. I then had no reason to return due to my exotics passing. Fast forward four years later I considered this veterinarian clinic again because they stocked a product I needed for my dog.

Following purchasing the food and the fact the ladies at the front desk being very warm, personable, and respectful; I chose to try to his veterinarian clinic once again. That was a mistake.

My dog has had issues with food and his skin.
He had developed a flare up which I thought required immediate attention thus, I scheduled a last minute appointment just before closing time.

The veterinarian assistant was again very personable and friendly; Dr Max. not so much. His bedside manner was off putting yet again. He immediately recommended my dog receive a prescription for antibiotics without even examining my dog. When I disagreed with him and tried to explain to him reasons as to why; he was argumentative; rolled his eyes after I spoke; stated, “ that if I was not going to give my dog’s antibiotics I was in the wrong veterinarian clinic.” As if that wasn’t enough his body language was that of a man who didn’t want to take into consideration what a woman or pet owner had to say because he knew more about my pets condition than I did when he hadn’t even seen him before. Following his poor bedside manner I walked out without services rendered.

The next day I called my regular veterinarian, followed her instructions, and his flare up has since subsided without needing antibiotics.

I will never ever step foot in Island Lake Veterinary Clinic nor recommend Dr. Max to anyone. He is anything but compassionate, empathetic, willing to listen, respectful, or personable.

On top of that my dog didn’t like him; my dog growled at him which he never does. My dog notoriously loves the veterinarian offices. He is nothing but all wags. When Dr. Max entered he wasn’t. Trust your animal’s instincts.

We have been going to Dr Max for years now. He and his office gals take great care of our cats. They are nice, easy to get a hold off and schedule an urgent visit. Dr Max is honest knowledgeable vet, gets straight to the business. Reading reviews on him overcharging patients is complete lie, he never pushed any unnecessary treatments and explained what is necessary and not necessary for our pets. Actually his providing, meds and vaccines are more than affordable, including self pay discount, who cat beat that. My cats have been treated with passion and respect, absolutely would recommend Dr Max to everybody.

Although I love the front desk, and my boyfriend loves this vet. I simply do not care for it. I took my dog here after being told by my boyfriend’s family this was an amazing vet, my experience was horrible. The vet looked at my dog, although he didn’t even touch her and said she was perfectly healthy and sent us on our way. Maybe he was busy and had a bad day so I made another appointment to get my dogs anal gland popped because it was bothering her. The front desks ladies were the ones having to try and pop it which my dog was resisting (she is 60+ pound dog) and max the vet did NOT help them, I told them if they had to sedate my dog they could (this was before she ate) and they told me they couldn’t do that and said sorry and had me leave. I went to another nearby vet and they told me the reason my dog has anal gland issues is because of seasonal allergies and took tests and actually listened to her heart and examined her. I do not recommend this place.

Never going back. I have taken my dogs here a few times for emergencies or vaccinations, but never again. Last visit, they would not let my wife go back with our dog to get his shots and he was traumatized due to this.

No bedside manner what so ever anytime I've taken my dogs there and very arrogant. Never will I trust this vet again.
