Excellent hair cut but $135 for a 19 pound 9 month old mini golden doodle?! More than my haircut! Did love the open floor plan where my pup was visible (not taken to back room). Staff was sensitive to puppy-letting her wander around before putting her in open cubicle. Price my only complaint!

Took my Löwchen in the other day for the first time- the staff were all friendly and did a great job on her- they followed my laundry list of instructions to the letter, which I very much appreciated since I needed her groomed very specifically (we are moving out of the country and I was trying to balance keeping the bones of her breed standard cut with making it easier for her to be taken care of during this process). My dog is fussy about her feet being groomed and nails clipped; they did a great job on her feet and nails.
I spoke to another owner who was dropping her dog off at the same time, and she said her dog gets excited to come here. If we were staying local, I would have no hesitation in bringing my dog here; since we leave in 2 weeks the best I can do is share our positive experience with others.

I’ve bringing my dog here for the past few years. She has a black lab border collie and always gets a bath, D shedding, nails clipped, and her teeth brushed. We’ve Always have had positive experiences. The work is always top notch. The staff is friendly and make it easy to drop off and pick up. It appears my dog enjoys her self while there. She’s always excited to be dropped off. She runs in without saying goodbye.

We have used house of dog for our tibetan terrier since he was a pup and he is now a year and a half. HOD really knows their stuff about proper cutting, cleaning and brushing our pup. We tried another groomer and it was a terrible experience and made us appreciate the attention to detail at HOD! The care, fun for our pup, detail and perfection of HOD makes it worth every penny!he is always happy to go there too! They are not cheap, but they are excellent, and worth it!

Moved to area from SF and previously used Russian Hill Dog grooming and tried this new place for our Maltese and was so impressed with how happy and great looking my dog was after. I couldn’t recommend more! Excellent groomer!!

I love the entire crew here! They take great care of my dogs. They recently discovered a potential medical issue with one of my furry babies. My vet said I should be very thankful to have such an attentive groomer. Great find in San Anselmo.

Terrible business model, substantially overpriced, bad communication. I wouldn't recommend.

Many annoying things stand out about this experience so I'll stick to the one or two I disliked most. I hated dropping our 2 dogs off at 8:30am, at the exact same time as several others (5 or more) only to have them wait around until mid afternoon before they were attended to. This is entirely unnecessary and is a terrible experience for the dogs. Imagine a human showing up at their appointment for a haircut and having to wait around for several hours until it was convenient for the business to start work on them. It would never happen. We live less than 5 minutes away so I even asked if they could just call when they are ready to see them and I would bring them back. "No" was the reply.

My 2nd largest annoyance was that the main and only employee at drop off, was so busy that there was little to no chance of her relaying instructions to the groomer. Of course, nothing was written down. I was a little worried about this and even provided a picture to work from for one of our dogs. This made no difference and had zero benefit, if it was even seen at all by the person doing the grooming. Our dog came out looking nothing like the picture we provided or the instructions I left. 15 seconds of communication could have prevented that.

It's a dog grooming so it's not a big deal and it didn't ruin the day, just annoying, especially at those prices.

Our standard poodle comes out looking like a champion every time she comes here. Lisa and Andrea take good care of her, and I often get stopped walking her after I pick her up, with people asking about my beautiful poodle. I highly recommend House of Dog.
