My significant other and I adopted our first dog from Helping Hounds in late June. They were awesome! It was an easy process, that didn't take ages to complete. We found our perfect match the day we went to just check out the building and options, and brought her home the same day. Raina (previously Reba Red) came home already knowing "sit", "leave it", "wait," and "come". She is an absolute angel. While I can't say for sure, I like to credit that to the training room we witnessed during our visit! They set our puppy up for success before she even came home to us. They were very helpful and explained everything, from their process, to my pup's backstory (all information that they had). I highly suggest Helping Hounds Dog Rescue.

Raina says thank you to those who took care of her until her mom and dad found her! ❤️

I have struggled to find a place that can cut my dogs nails that doesn’t like them cut. She tries to bite. I called helping hounds and they said they would get her nails done no matter what. It’s cheap, quick, and most importantly, my dog is comfortable. Though she still tries to bite, the groomer, Kaylee, is able to get her feet done so fast. She’s so sweet and caring towards my dog. I will ALWAYS be going here to get my baby taken care of. I recommend to EVERYONE!

We rescued a dog from this wonderful facility. The staff and volunteers are kind and patient with the dogs. They take extra care in matching the right dog to your household, including resident dogs and cats.
Every care is taken through the application process to insure the dog is going to a loving home, will get regular vet care and training if necessary.
Our rescue has earned her CGC, participates in agility training and is a happy girl. She does lots of tricks and gets along well with other dogs and kids of all ages.

I took my dog Ben to work with Chivon, the trainer at Helping Hounds, as he’s having some reactivity towards dogs and she was wonderful! Provided great tips/tricks to try that were not harsh in any way. Looking forward to starting training classes in October to help him and I be confident in ourselves and each other.

I got "fired" from Helping Hounds Dog Rescue for expressing a concern about a dog who was euthanized. I was in no way disrespectful. I simple expressed that the back story didn't add up. The dog was returned after biting the owners... however... it was stated that the husband never bonded with the dog, refused to go with his wife to return the dog, and she stated she was afraid to bring the dog back home. The dog did fail the trainer's test and did bite several volunteers. I get that is not a great scenario. Of course not. But, I was shamed for expressing my concern and my opinion that maybe it should have been considered that something happened to this dog at his home, which led him to be an anxious biter... that maybe other options could have been considered before just euthanizing him. But, as I have found with pretty much every rescue organization in this area, opinions are not solicited. So, I was unceremoniously "fired" over an email. Wow.

This place does an amazing job to rehome beautiful dogs of all ages and breeds from places that are overcrowded with dogs and would have to put these dogs down. We just adopted our first dog (River, 11 month Shepard) from them we were very impressed with the facility and the staff.
We highly recommend Helping Hounds and will go back in the future without hesitation.
