I learned so much from Dawn, even though I have taken many classes with my puppies, and read many books about dog training over the years. She has just the right amount of sternness to guide us, the trainers. She truly seems committed to helping your relationship with your dog thrive, and was very encouraging, even though my puppy often discourages me! Her pricing is very reasonable, and it is very convenient that most lessons she comes to your house / front yard.

Dog trainers abound.....A DOG BEHAVIORALIST IS TRULY ONE OF A KIND!
Dawn Lawrence came into our lives highly recommended, but TEN STARS ARE NOT ENOUGH.....She totally understands the psychology of the animal (dealing with manifold different breeds) and then customizes her
teaching regime to that animal's special and specific needs. As well, Dawn teaches the "parents" to understand the behavioral traits of the animal and to customize the program to that dog. We asked Dawn to simultaneously handle two boxer pups, brother and sister and she did not hesitate even for a moment to say "yes." To follow was a personalized program for each of our babies, as their personalities, learning traits and demeanor are quite different.

Happy Dog Basic Obedience has turned around my relationship with my dog. I started having training lessons with Dawn when my Rottweiler, Bosco, was about fourteen months old. I have never ever lived with, let alone, owned a dog before in my life and I was determined to have a well-behaved large dog. However, I was lost as to how to train him. Dawn is an expert on training dogs! Her calm and assertive attitude was exactly what I needed. She knew when to tell me the mistakes I was making, while also building up my confidence and telling me when I was doing a good job. She was always punctual, her methods always worked, and she had a warmth to her that was undeniable. After completing the basic dog obedience training, I went on to have Bosco certified for the canine good citizen test with her. I can't recommend Happy Dog Basic Obedience, and Dawn enough! I always tell her that she trained me how to train my dog - and now I have a peaceful and deep connection with Bosco.

We took the basic obedience course with our two young dogs and in only five lessons, we saw a major change in our former troublemaker dog. Dawn found out from the start that he does better in a harness than a leash, and that changed his personality right off the bat. We worked on exactly what we needed to: heel, leave it, barking at the door, wait, stay, and overcoming fear. Our other dog is quite timid so we learned techniques to help her with her confidence. It was so convenient for us to meet at the park by our house, and in our home - no need to take them anywhere! The little one doesn’t like car rides anyway. We will continue to perfect these commands that we’ve learned, and look forward to working with Dawn in the future.
