I personally really like the place. Big fish selection and live plants. I’ve bought plants and fish from there both did well with the transition to my home tanks. Staff was knowledgeable with everything I asked. I try to stop in every time I’m in Sac. I bought male and female mollys and tetras that are months old now from there with no losses and the fish look healthy there

My tank leaked. I have an unusual size tank. Exotic hooked me up with a custom tank of the same size for a fair price.

New management is great. Been going there for over a decade. Really impressed lately. Keep it up.

Wish I took some pictures because words do not do this place justice it's a huge shop as soon as you walk in they have a beautiful koi pond I lost count of how many rows of tanks with unique freshwater fish I got myself some rice fish with beautiful blue eyes there still thriving and doing well in my tank I can't wait to go bk to see what's new in stock the staff was nice and knowledgeable it is one of my favorite spots I've been too prices are in line with many of the other shops I've been too so if your looking for a shop with a lot of variety I highly recommend Exotic Aquarium they also have reptiles I'm just not knowledgeable about them hope this was helpful

Love shopping here, great selection of products. They have one of the largest selection of fish. They have very helpful staff. Typically, David helps me, and he makes sure I get everything I need, including education on what I am doing or needing in my tanks. He is friendly and makes the shopping experience fun. It's nice to shop at a store with knowledgeable people and a clean friendly atmosphere! The Tiger oscar was the last fish I purchased here and because of David's knowledge about the fish he was able to help me find the right fit for my current Oscars. I highly recommend shopping here if you are a fish enthusiast!

Big selection BUT weird vibes. Employees do not even acknowledge your presence when you are there. Not when you enter, not when they walk by you. They actually avoid eye contact even when they are walking towards which is really strange! Perhaps if you buy something the experience is different. Again a lot of selection, but smaller stores in the area have staff that much more welcoming and helpful, and I would rather support those types of business.

I was so sad when they closed down and am happy to say this reopening was like living my childhood again. Love the fish and chameleon print added outside the door before walking in, it gives it a exotic touch for sure. When you walk in you're immediately greeted by green, lush plants. They have all their plants to the right hand side. And the 2 koi fish ponds. I noticed today they have much more snakes but inside the glass in small boxes. Hopefully they can get new tanks bc I'd love to see the snakes in action. They have a small reptile section, with Dave being the biggest bearded dragon there is. The blue scorpions are so cool to look at and the bird eating tarantula is pretty dope as well. I'm loving how clean everything is so far and there are tons of staff who are btw extremely attentive and helpful. Would love to see them expand and utilize more space maybe in the future.

I loved going in here . It’s huge and has very maintained tanks and most fish seems cared for but bettas . I went there for a betta fish and see all these amazing tanks so was excited to maybe get a good betta . I was wrong though the bettas were in super tiny cups and stacked so close to each other . So many were sick or dead or dying . There was one that clearly had been dead for a while causing the water to turn brown and the fish was decaying. And when I handed it to the guy he acted like he didn’t care . I ended up still getting a koi betta for $20 ish and I was excited that maybe these would be healthier . He swam around for maybe 2 days in a 20 gallon and then stopped swimming around and wouldn’t even come out . He started just hiding in the tiniest decor and only came out if I picked it up . My tank was already cycled and had 5 schooling fish which the betta seemed fine with . I’m so mad that this fish is clearly not healthy and it’s sad that such a nice store is neglecting the betta fish
