Mike is incredible at what he does! We have an 8 year-old pit bull who was never properly trained as a puppy, so I wasn't sure how much training him in adulthood would actually help... Mike exceeded our expectations during Bentley's stay with him. When we picked him up after two weeks of training, my boyfriend could not believe this was the same dog we dropped off. Bentley is much less anxious and, with the help of skills Mike has given us, it's 10x easier to get him to calm down now when he's acting up. I cannot recommend Engaged Dog Training enough!

Mike truly cares about the relationship between the dog and its owner. Before committing to board and training, we had multiple phone consultations to discuss my dog’s issues, my willingness to follow through with pre/post-board and training, and expectations.

Mike isn’t a “Do x, y, and z, and your dog will be good to go.” He assesses what works, what needs to be adjusted, and what techniques need to be modified; he is not a one-size-fits-all trainer; he cares for the needs of each dog and tailors training for the dog. If you are an owner who truly wants the best and is willing (keyword: willing) to put in the time and effort pre/post-board and training, Mike is the man for you and your dog.

Mike focused on rehabilitation with my dog (Tan) since he was EXTREMELY reactive and was always on ‘the go’; the only time Tan was chill/relaxed was when he was sleeping! Seven weeks with Mike and my dog has made a massive 180! Tan was unable to be in my backyard since he sought out triggers, which made him more reactive. And walks were unbearable as Tan would pull and hysterically bark at any dog we passed. Mike worked with Tan to help ease and relax his mind. The Tan I see now is a dog who has learned that it is okay to be relaxed and be in the moment, knows he does not have to react to every sound/noise/dog or person, trusts me, and sees me as his leader.

I am fortunate we found Mike! Compared to how I lived with Tan before Mike, which was chaotic and manic, now that he's back, it’s a dog-owner relationship that's way more mellow and calm. I thank my lucky stars for having Mike in our lives! Bravo, Mike! You're the GOAT!

Mike has been great to work with in training our new rescue dog. His knowledge, patience and training tools have helped her learn basic commands, impulse control, and has increased her bond with us. We have also learned valuable training techniques that we can use in the future!

Engaged Dog Training is the best! I wanted a smooth transition bringing a new puppy into our home. I called EDT to help with the integration. Mike provided a lot of helpful information beginning with our initial call. Each in-person session had a specific focus that staged the next session. He explained the process of building a pack and modeled his training methods. We appreciate Mike's clear and thorough style of training and could not be more pleased with the outcome.

Training with Engaged Dog Training and Mike has been the best decision I’ve made as a pet owner! He’s so knowledgeable and passionate about dogs. We did a month long board and train with them and our dogs are transformed for the better. He is so patient with us and you can really tell that he loves our dogs. I foresee Mike as being a part of our family for the long run.

We hired Mike to help with Sky, our bullterrier. Sky is a covid dog and had little interaction with people or other dogs for the first 2 years of her life. She has reactivity issues as well as resource guarding issues. We weren’t really concerned with the obedience training as much as behavior modification. With Mike’s help through private lessons, Sky’s reactivity level has come way down. Mike has given us the tools to teach Sky to become a more confident dog by instilling confidence in ourselves to lead and guide her. Through his empathy and patience Mike has helped us to transition into the next phase of our relationship with Sky. We highly recommend Mike to anyone with dog training needs.

I have a 2 year old German Shepard/Malinois who is highly reactive and was under-socialized due to COVID restrictions. We were unsuccessful with three trainers in the past. To say the least, it has been a long emotional road with her but I didn't want to give up on her because she's a great dog that just needs guidance and direction.
When we found Mike, my stress and worries began to fade away quickly. He's given my dog, and my family, a better quality of life. He is a very patient and kind hearted person. He's a trainer for the right reason - his true love for dogs. I've seen him with his own dogs - they are well behaved/trained, and more importantly, it is obvious that they are loved.
He is trainer who believes in being fair but firm when it's needed. He always has the dog's best interest at heart. I trust him completely with my dog. I would highly recommend him no matter what your dog's needs are - big or small.
