Just returned from our Hallmark vacation complete with snow.
Truly a magical experience for us Texans. The cabin is well equipped for cooking. Nolan was a wonderful host and his tamales; delicious. Loved the decor (especially the Christmas tree) and the linens are top notch. The queen bed was very comfortable and the cabin was toasty. We loved the location and the peaceful, serene environment.

My only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is the lack of internet/TV. Advertised as a feature, they never worked so we had to use our own cell phone as a hot spot. That being said, the cabin we rented was clean and comfortable and the views were amazing! The lake was spectacular, and fishing was also good - I caught a 24' trout that the caretake (Nolan I believe) was kind enough to filet for us. In addition to fishing, Elk Point also had free access to kayaks, canoes, left vests etc. There was also a common cabin with a pool table or a place to lounge comfortably. Lots of hiking and outdoor activities - a truly special area in Colorado and a great experience overall. We'd come back for sure!

Our cabin was small (there are also much larger cabins) and cozy. Loved it! We had 3 other couples staying there also. We had a wonderful time and would love to come back someday. Be sure and drive according to their directions and DO NOT follow google map!

We took an "end of Summer" family trip and chose Elk Point Lodge in Vallecitos, CO. Cabin 5 housed a party of 6 very comfortably. The cabin was well equipped with a full size fridge, stove, pots, pans, silverware, paper towels, dish cloths, microwave, coffee, creamer, dish soap and much more. The large front patio/deck is a beautiful asset to sit and overlook the lake, early morning or evenings. The cabin was also equipped with a propane grill. Easy access to walk down to the lake and take in a nice walk, or enjoy the complimentary kayaks, paddle boards, or canoe (for Elk Point Lodge guests only). What I personally enjoyed was the peacefulness and the beauty of this property. They are also dog friendly!

I have been coming to Elk Point Lodge for several years with my family and this time alone with my girlfriend. It is such a beautiful getaway spot yet close to Durango, the hosts are amazing, the cabins well maintained and appointed. We‘ll be back for sure!

What a quaint and lovely place this is! It's a true lodge-of-old type experience. Definitely different from a regular hotel but our room (minus a bathroom as there's a communal bathroom with shower) was clean and comfortable with thoughtful touches. The bed was extremely comfortable with perfect linens. We didn't take advantage of the communal living room but sat on the deck each morning with coffee by the fire pit. The delightful owners just added the lodge option and are still working some bugs out but all in all it was a fine respite at a very reasonable price.

READ ALL DISCLAIMERS BEFORE BOOKING!

New restrictions have pushed me away from this property. I used to rent the 3 room cabin so we could relax away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Apparently now you are not allowed to invite visitors to enjoy the day for more than a few hrs and those visitors are also not allowed to use the bathrooms. Time to look for a more accommodating property.

The cabin was the perfect size for the two of us. The bed was super comfortable. We enjoyed the large deck and the amazing view of the lake from Cabin #1. We appreciated the 3 drawer nightstands to store our clothes. There is a homey feel that made me want to stay longer.
