Lisa is wonderful. We've owned dogs before, but it had been a long while since we had had a puppy. We adopted a large mixed breed who is sweet in temperament, but stubborn and smart! With the raising of two young kids taking up most of my mental space, I knew I would need someone to help me get her into line. Lisa helped us be consistent in our training, reminded us the importance of control with such a giant dog on our hands, and most importantly (for me!) held us accountable to follow through. If you’re looking for a trainer, stop now. You have found her! Lisa is the absolute BEST trainer. Notice I did not say “dog” trainer. That’s because Lisa trains YOU to be the best pack leader for your dog. She is not for the faint of heart. If you think you know better, won’t follow everything she says or get your feelings hurt easily, take your money elsewhere and come back later (because you will come back with your tail between your legs).

We got our dog at 18 weeks from a foreign breeder. He was not socialized, barked at everything, was scared of even stationary everyday objects like a lamp. Lisa taught our family to be a pack including who is in the pecking order of the pack (e.g., we come through the door first and the dog comes in last). It worked wonders! Knowing that he had a pack, and that there were rules in the pack calmed our dog down. He trusted that he is secure and protected within the pack, so that he could just enjoy a dog’s life.

Because of Lisa’s training, our dog associates training with fun. He gets very excited when it is training time. He loves to do the right thing and is happiest when he knows he has done something right. Lisa’s training is so effective that we never ever have to raise our voices at our dog. In fact, he is so attuned to us that he can follow hand commands. We can cross the street with him off-leash and he will stay on the curb until we signal him to come.

Lisa took us on field trips to train for how we live. Thanks to these field trips, we are able to go on long meals while our dog just sits under the table. He does not lunge at or sniff around when he knows it is settle time. We have even taken him to the movie theater during a screening of Spider Man (so think dark theater and explosions)! He just went into “settle” for 2 hours because he trusts that his pack leader would not put him in a situation that is dangerous to him.
