I will never recommend this place given how they handled the death of my dog while he was in their care.

My dog seemed to like it here, and I boarded him here several times over months with no issues. However, in May, when I arrived to pick him up, he was dead and the staff didn’t even know. I was informed by the girl working there that they might need help getting him out of the crate because he was sick. She informed me that when she checked on him 15 minutes prior, he turned and looked up at her but didn’t want to get up to go outside. When I went back to the crate, my dog was covered in his own diarrhea and vomit. My dog was stiff and in rigor mortis. I learned from the vet that means he was dead for 60-90 minutes. So, the employee lied about checking on my dog when they knew he was very sick.

Once I realized my dog was unresponsive, I was obviously very upset. I used an employees phone to try to call an emergency vet. At that time, the owner called the employee but insisted on having a private conversation with them. This appeared to me she was more concerned about her liability than about me or my dog. To her credit, the owner did come and show me where the emergency vet was. However, I never heard from her again. She did not reach out to offer condolences, to apologize, to offer help paying for vet/cremation bills, etc.

I will never know what happened to my dog. The vet believes he was poisoned by something. I have no way of knowing what he ate. However, he was not sick when I dropped him off, and he died very quickly. According to multiple vets, he likely ate something less than 24 hours, i.e. during the time period he was in their care. Even if they were not at fault, I still will never recommend this place given how the owner handled his death. Her employees lied to me, did not care for him when he was sick, andr didn’t even know he was dead for 60-90 minutes. The owner then appeared more focused on avoiding responsibility/liability instead of showing empathy or compassion.

My dog, Davy, absolutely loves it here. He has the most fun running in the backyard with his friends and adores the staff. He is stimulated all day and ready to relax when I pick him up after work. The staff is friendly and kind to the dogs. They will tell you what your dog did that day, who your dog played with, and sometimes take pictures to share with you so you don’t miss your dog so much. They make sure your dog feels comfortable and safe. I highly recommend Dandy Dog.

This was the best boarding experience we’ve ever had!! Both of our dogs came back super happy, and you can tell how much the staff cares about the animals. Will be back again. I recommend this to anyone in here in Juneau!

Our dog Maisie is basically our daughter (we call her our dog-ter) and we love her so much. It’s really hard for us to leave her behind and travel but Dandy Dog Boarding has made it so much less stressful. Maisie has a wonderful time and always gets excited to be dropped off. The staff here are amazing and very sweet to her (she’s a giant breed, but very sensitive). I would recommend this option to anyone in the Juneau area who loves their dog and wants first class care for them while they’re gone or otherwise incapacitated. We love you Dandy Dog!

Shawna is amazing! My husky is always so excited to go to daycare. Love how my dog becomes an Instagram star and sometimes sends home paw art ♥️ Five years later my dog is still happy and single dog parent is very appreciative of the services offered at Dandy Dog.

I cannot say enough good things about Dandy Dog Daycare!! My dog gets so excited to go every time we pull up to the building to drop her off, and she is so happy and tired when I pick her up. The staff is excellent with the dogs, and genuinely cares about providing a safe, loving space for them to play and hang out. Juneau dog owners are very lucky to have Dandy Dog Daycare in town!!
