My dog turns 3 today and I'm tearing up writing this. He's changed my life. Couldn't ask for a more incredible companion. Derek helped me to connect with him in a special way. The moment I came to a complete sense of calmness in the kennel, the pup connected with me and we've been attached at the hip since. Yes, he's got alot of energy and these dogs aren't for everyone. If you're not ready to fully commit to a high drive specimen like this, these dogs probably aren't for you. But if you want a complete guardian that is always there for you, these are the right choice. I can trust around him around dog-educated children and the elderly, and also trust him to keep strangers and unwanted folks at a distance. His silhouette alone would drive away anyone with bad intentions. His radar for that is strong as can be. We spent our first year and a half on a ranch in Colorado and have been nomadic since. I've simplified life since I got him and we are living the dream. I live for this dog. He can jump over my head and run like the wind. He loves to swim and is the best fetch player imaginable. Temperament is unmatched with other dogs. As much as he can turn up the ferocity if need be he is really just a lover, sweet as can be. "Special" barely begins to describe. If I get to the right space where I can accommodate another Mal in my life, I 100% know where id go to look. From the moment I saw the way his dogs were holding space around his children playing and the command he had over them, I knew I was at the right place. After losing our first Mal to cancer, we weren’t sure we wanted another dog. Derek made it such a great experience looking for a puppy. He didn’t rush us and answered all our questions. We love our pup Kenai! Kenai loves the snow, hiking, car rides. We get so many compliments on how beautiful he is.

Countryside Kennels helped us complete our family! Our Juniper (Junie) is about to turn one and we have loved every minute of having her since we brought her home from Countryside as a puppy. Although it wasn't originally the plan, Derek picked her out for us after getting to know our family and she is in every way a perfect fit. She's active, playful, sweet and an incredible balance between protective and social with new people and animals she encounters. She hikes, swims, fetches, goes on jogs, wrestles with the kids, and will snuggle everyone at the end of the day. We are constantly getting compliments on how beautiful she is, but looks aren't everything! She is remarkably and instinctually smart, always eager to learn new commands and obedience skills - she impressed everyone in the local Schutzhund club.
Our experience with Derek and Kara has also been top notch - they have always been available for advice since we were new to this breed at first. Derek has provided timely and valuable second opinions and breed-specific details as questions have come up along the way. I'm not an expert, but based on what I've read she really does seem to have all of the best qualities of each of the breeds within the blend.
Everyone in our family says almost every day how much we love our Junie bug, and she has surpassed our wildest dreams on how cool and well-rounded a dog can be! Thank you Countryside!

Countryside Kennels will be where I get all of my pups going forward. When purchasing our pup we didn't just feel like a number or just another transaction to them. Working with the crew at countryside was amazing top to bottom. From talking on the phone answering all my specific questions, to touring the facility, and patiently helping us pick out the perfect pup for our family. Everything he said our now 1 year old would be was spot on. The knowledge and professionalism has been an absolute pleasure. I can’t say enough good things about our dog. She is a perfect mix of chill when needed, the drive to train when required, and most important to me she is neutral with other dogs and people, her focus is on her family…and a bonus she is gorgeous! I would send and recommend anyone to countryside, hands down the best money I could have spent!

These guys really care about thier dogs, it's evident in the quality and temperament of the dogs. Derek also cares about the fit of the dog and family and goes beyond to ensure this fit. His dogs are incredibly smart and well mannered and are great with kids!
