We have done long-term boarding with Canyonwyck several times now. Definitely enough to get a good sense of what pet life is all about there. Let's start with the positives. The facility appears to have a lot of space and they have plenty of options for food, playtime, and extras. The baths we have gotten from them at the end of the stay always come out pretty good. That's about where the good ends, though.

Our girl has always come back to us sick with a notable amount down on weight and has included diarrhea and vomiting. This has happened on occasions when we've used their food and brought our own. She has also come back with a lot of sores and calluses on her legs. I suspect it's from a lot of sitting on concrete, which she shouldn't be because we pay extra for the play times. They have plenty of extra beds to spare, so throw another one in there possibly? Whatever the case is, she' definitely not in a condition I would consider good when picked up. If this only happened once or twice, I'd ignore it, but it's been a consistent problem with all of our visits. Our bills have generally been large due to the time and extras we throw in. You'd expect them to take credit. Nope. Make sure you have your cash on hand. I get they're a small business and there are fees associated with that kind of thing, but sorry, that's just how modern commerce works. In general, most businesses give that option. Prices are of the premium type, which would be fine except I don't feel like you get premium care there. The cost doesn't match the service.

When I brought up these issues with the managers, I got varying responses. Most of them came back to, "Well, it's always worked like this." In fact, I would say there was a general lack of empathy, willingness to hear (let alone accept) any critical feedback, and lack of responsibility. These aren't attributes you want from people who are tasked to take care of your fur babies. Fair enough, though. I gave it a good shot with Canyonwyck, which is obvious by the amount of times we've used them. I wont be going back. I don't like giving negative reviews, but in this case, I think it's deserved.

I trust the owners to take good care of my rottweillers. The dogs always seem happy and not stressed out at all after their stays @Canyonwyck.

they don't allow pickups or drop-offs on weekends. that means i have to drop my dog off on a Friday and pick him up on a Monday when I WANT to drop him off Sunday (leaving town way-early Monday) and pick him up Saturday. that's just weird. and $$$ adds up. they should do something about that. doggy seems ok with the care and they aren't usually booked to the max when i need coverage, so that's good. but this weekend thing--not at all ok. lookin' 'round for some place with normal hours (most kennels have weekend drop-offs & pick-ups in other places we've lived).

By far the best kennel in the area. The owner is an award winning trainer of the most long-living line of champion Rottweilers I have ever seen!

Take a walk and check out the Spring wildflowers! Very peaceful just up over the hillsides looking down on Freeway 580.
