California Service Dog Academy has proven to be a blessing not only to our local community, but to service dog handlers across the state! It has been a privilege to volunteer alongside incredible individuals whose primary goal is to help others thrive and regain their independence through the assistance of service dogs. As a disabled volunteer, CSDA has been warm, kind, and accommodating to my needs and limitations, while still allowing me to participate fully to the best of my abilities. I'm not sure I'll ever fully be able to put into words just how much I appreciate the founders, the staff, and the many generous hearts that make California Service Dog Academy the remarkable program it is.

CSDA is a very professional and dedicated service dog training academy. My service dog and I received the highest quality of training during our process. All staff personnel were available at all times during training, after completion and continue to communicate with me regularly. The entire process was a challenge for me but the entire staff ensured to be by my side to guide my service dog and I in the right direction. They are true professionals! CSDA is an amazing organization, and I’m so grateful for the training and support they’ve provided for my husband and his service dog (Gardner). I didn’t realize, until Gardner came along, how much support and comfort a dog could provide; we have other pet dogs- this is different. Beyond the dog training, CSDA offered resources and therapy to my husband to help him deal with and come to terms with his injury. They genuinely care, and it has made such a difference in my husband’s life- and in turn, mine.

Matt and Rebecca at California Service Dog Academy have been so gracious. They have worked with me at every point of need since March 2018 when I first met Rebecca after reaching out to her at Your Pro Dog Trainer for some help with my first service dog, Charlie. That August it came time for Charlie to retire, and Matt and Rebecca were able to find a prospect for me and worked with us over the ensuing year to help train Finn—both through group classes and individual training. Rebecca is committed not only to positive reinforcement but to all-around excellence in her training. Matt has helped support us in a number of access challenges and has been a terrific resource when it comes to service dog law. The best part is, out of this whole experience, I’ve gained more than just a four-legged partner—I’ve gained two friends I can count on, and I feel like I’ve gotten a lot of my life back. Even on days when my pain is too great, or I can’t get out of bed because my depression is too thick, or I can’t leave the house because my anxiety is swarming, I know that Finn has my back because of the incredible training we all have done with him.

CSDA has been incredible every step of the way. Rebecca and Brygette have gone above and beyond in every single aspect of assisting the integration of my service dog into my everyday life and ensuring that her (and my) training and routines are specifically tailored around our needs. The positive reinforcement approach they take doesn’t stop with my service dog, but extends to me as well, making them an invaluable asset and a genuinely enjoyable and therapeutic experience every time.
