Lee, the owner of Armor K9, was instrumental in training my psychiatric service dog. As an Army Veteran I was seeking high quality, and professional trainer that was no frills and not selling me snake oil in terms of poor quality dog training at a insanely high cost, like a lot of other training companies and organizations out there in Phoenix and Prescott.

I met Lee through a living testimonial of a 6 month old Belgian Malinois puppy walking off leash in a near perfect heel next to its owner. I was incredibly impressed and knew I wanted to speak with the trainer that enabled such high level of obedience to happen in a high stimulation environment.

Lee came into the picture, and I would soon learn how much training not only my dog would get, but also myself. Over the course of a few months my relationship with my Golden Retriever was not only vastly different, but the level of obedience I got was shocking to me.

I also learned how much I let my Golden get away with and what true obedience/ disciple looks like while leading your dog as a good owner should. Lee introduced me to the E Collar at a certain point in our session schedule and the obedience with my service dog went to another level. Within 2 months I was able to have a puppy brained Golden Retriever behave amazing at the airport while we flew home together to see my family. The airport was a true test of my dog and I’s training. Get this, WE WEREN'T EVEN DONE YET, and still had some sessions with Lee to go. Everytime I am out with my dog, people are always saying how well behaved he is and inquire about how he got to such a highly obedient level! I always point them to Lee.

Armor K9 changed my great relationship with my Golden Retriever into an even better and highly obedient one. A highly obedient dog is a necessity in my mind and I was willing to drive from Phoenix multiple times a week to INVEST in for my dog and I. Keep in mind, Lee does mainly do Board and Train’s, which wouldn’t require you to come out multiple times a week like I did.

I highly recommend Armor K9 and Lee for any dog owner looking to strengthen their bond with their pet, service animal, or working dog in Law Enforcement. Lee has been doing this for decades, been featured in Nat Geo magazine, and has had high profile clientele. He’s humble, an expert at his craft, and you wouldn’t not go wrong working with Lee and investing in training for your dog with him.

I also highly encourage anyone looking to be a student of his, to be very objective on how you are training and raising your dog, but also challenge your own thought process if things make you uncomfortable or you aren’t used to them in this ONLY positive reinforcement dog training world we live in. If you go in with an open mind, and hold yourself accountable, the training with Lee will work.

Thank you Lee for transforming my relationship with my Golden Retriever, Conan, training him to be my service dog, and training me how to discipline and lead him as any good owner should!

Additional to the review below, I just sent my second pup, Quinn, through the Puppy Headstart program with Lee—and once again, Armor K9 delivered. Even though Quinn was only there for a week this time, the progress was incredible. He came back more confident, better focused, and already responding reliably to early commands like sit, down, recall, place and leash walking. The transformation in just a few days was obvious.

Lee is exceptionally consistent and knows how to bring out the best in each dog without overcomplicating the process for the owner. I appreciated the clear guidance and direct communication—no fluff, just results. I now have two young dogs who are on track to be well-behaved, balanced companions thanks to the foundation Armor K9 gave them.

Highly recommend this program if you want to set your pup up for long-term success early on.

I recently sent my 4 month old Bernedoodle puppy, Buck, through the Board and Train program at Armor K9, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the results. While Buck is not a working or protection dog, Lee’s training approach is truly tailored to all dogs—and that was exactly what Buck and I needed.
When Buck came home, the transformation in his behavior and responsiveness was clear. He now has a solid foundation of obedience, structure, and discipline—all thanks to Lee’s exceptional training methods. The program didn’t just focus on teaching Buck—it equipped me, the owner, with the tools and knowledge I need to maintain and build on that progress. As Lee says, training doesn’t end when your dog comes home; it’s a lifelong commitment.
What I appreciated most is that Armor K9 doesn’t offer cookie-cutter training. Everything is customized, and Lee took Buck’s personality, energy, and learning style into account. The structure and consistency Buck experienced during his stay was exactly what he needed, and now that he’s back home, I see a calmer, more focused, and well-mannered pup.
If you're looking for a balanced, professional, and effective training program that empowers both you and your dog, I wholeheartedly recommend Armor K9.

Great experience! Our 5mo GSD responded quite well to training. The attention to detail like working with her—overtime—on her overexcitement towards kids and nervy reaction to noises was much appreciated. AND Lee spent a few hours with us—teaching us so we could follow through at home. The service received was above and beyond. If only all pups were so lucky to receive training at Armor K9!

After calling many, many dog trainers and not finding the right one.. I found and spoke with Lee. Lee took the time on the phone to make me feel comfortable in trusting him with our Mae. Mae spent 3 weeks learning so many amazing things. The day we picked her up, Lee spent a couple hours with us because we had to go to training too! He also sent us home with an at home guide that has been very helpful. Lee has followed up with us regularly, he truly cares! Thank you Lee and I couldn’t recommend Armor K9 more!

Pamela and I found out about Armor K-9 and Lee through a mutual veteran buddy in Prescott.

We couldn’t have picked a better place. We brought our recently adopted 1 1/2 year old Shepherd/Malinois mix named Tank.

We had zero training on how to manage this hi-energy dog. We loved him but we needed to make sure we could control him in all situations and make sure he didn’t have any serious behavioral problems that could get someone hurt.

Lee took him for 2 weeks, introduced him to other dogs and proper discipline techniques and then showed us how well Tank was responding when we came to pick him up. Basically, if we could spend a bit more time with Tank practicing the skills and techniques, he would be one of those ultra obedient dogs you see on TV.

But, we are busy people so we only can spend a limited time with Tank, but even with that, he is a much more controllable dog and we enjoy being with him so much more. Lee’s training was great for Tank and great for us.

We stumbled on a recommendation to work with Armor K9 and couldn't be more thankful. Fixing behavioral issues with our dog has been a challenge and with the help from Lee, it's becoming more manageable. We still have some work to do, but Lee's commitment to finding the root issues and his patience in teaching us, has us moving in the right direction. Highly recommend them for any of your training needs.

Lee is a very knowledgeable experienced dog trainer and I was very blessed to be able to work by his side to work with my Belgian Malinois puppy who was only eight weeks old when we brought him to Lee and now I have a well trained great companion who with without the help of Lee would’ve been a lot of work and a lot of stress. Thanks to the help of Lee i have a dog who is my best friend, very obedient ,and a dog i can take anywhere and everywhere with me and not have to worry about looking over my shoulder. Lee made a huge difference in our lives with helping us get through the awful puppy stage when times felt impossible. Lee always reminded me to stay positive and never to give up. Thanks to Lee i know how to handle my dog and continue to train him to be the best dog he can be!!

Not sure where to begin, but I will tell you it took me a full hour to recover from the tension Lee created in ME in our introductory session. He never inquired about me or my concerns or objectives. Instead, he lectured me ~85% of the time in a very demeaning, insulting, and misogynistic manner. He spent ~10% of the time showing me techniques but just a meager ~5% barely guiding me on these new techniques. Training dogs is all about training the human yet his time management certainly did not reflect this! At the end, when I asked him again about the specific concerns I had, which he had not addressed, he actually became angry with me! In all fairness, he did not charge me but instead rudely dismissed me as if I were unworthy. My experience with Lee was in no way like the other reviewers. Perhaps he was having a bad day. But from my experience, this man is unbalanced; in fact, he's a bit scary! Fortunately, I have met a trainer who has successfully guided me toward achieving a calm, submissive, and happy dog.
