I was searching for a trainer for my “spicy” baby boy, Marco. He’s super affectionate but walking him was stressful and becoming impossible. I thought he would grow out of it. He’s just a 4yr old puppy. I reached out to Alohomora Dog Training for help. Sandra was incredible. She educated us about living, reading and working with our reactive pup.
The changes have been incredibly positive. We have made tremendous progress and love our walks. We are still a work in progress and continue to follow Sandra’s lessons.

I’ve been working with John a little over a year now with my Aubrey girl (Pitbull mix). I want to give a little background in case my story sounds anything like yours. Aubrey was a rescue at 3months old. We discovered she had a severe heart murmur for which she underwent a Pulmonary Ballon Valvuloplasty and receives heart medication twice a day. She grew up with our 15 year old lab but started to develop some aggressive behavior with other dogs and anxiety issues in general, causing her to chew and bark. As you may know, pet stressors can put strain on just about every aspect of your life; familial, financial, emotional. I found John at the peak of all those stressors. He has been nothing short of a godsend to our family and most of all to Aubrey.

John is professional, inspiring, dependable, punctual, generous in his time and resources, and clearly passionate about all aspects that affect your dogs health. John has given numerous tools to help Aubrey and I understand each other and is a wealth of information regarding basic obedience and reactivity training, and has counseled on nutritional needs as well. John truly cares about the well-being of your pet and understands that they are your family.

Today, Aubrey is very competent in basic obedience commands. On occasion, if old habits resurface, they are easily corrected because I understand what necessities are lacking. Aubrey still has some aggression issues with other dogs but has greatly improved and is able to redirect. Overall, Aubrey is less reactive to her environment and walking her has been an enjoyable experience. I can’t thank John enough and am so grateful there are people like him that devote their lives and career to helping animals. Forever grateful. Thank you, John!

I would like to share my experience with Sandra, a remarkable individual who excels in training both people and dogs. When it comes to your dog's behavior, wouldn't it be more advantageous to collaborate with someone who has undergone a similar journey?

My beloved Zella struggles to manage her emotions and deal with intense feelings. As a result, everyday activities such as taking walks, welcoming guests, taking car rides, or visiting the vet become nearly impossible. I didn't expect Sandra to focus solely on training Zella to sit and stay. Instead, I sought her assistance in helping me support Zella. I can’t say enough about what an awesome experience we had using John to train my 9 mth old golden retriever! I first did the loose leash program with him! I can’t believe how much she learned and he also did it using a completely postive and force free approach. She went from not being able to go down the street on a walk to now comfortably and happily walking 2-3 miles daily! He sent lots of videos of her progress and was very helpful at explaining everything during the handler sessions. Since those lessons were so successful for her we went on to do a day training package with John to learn some obedience skills and also help build her confidence with adult strangers in preparation to be a therapy dog for children. We took many trips to various locations and John was very knowledgeable on dog body language and advocating for what she was needing to feel comfortable. In this processes she gained so much confidence and I learned so much as well! John is truly dedicated to dogs and helping their owners! I highly recommend him to anyone looking for training for their puppy or adult dog!

She struggles with everything . she was afraid of everything that caused her to react to anything.
Domitila traveled from mexico to the US by plane so after that her behavior changed completely. she started to feel afraid of everything.
thanks to sandra were available to help our lovely dog .. and the great thing is that sandra is so patient and understanding and cheer us about all the improvements even if tiny on domitila’s behavior.

Sandra did a great job working with us and our dog. He was having trouble meeting people in our home and Sandra helped us work on some strategies to deal with that. Also just gave us good ideas for walking him and getting quick responses with his behavior. I highly recommend Sandra. She is an expert dog and people trainer!

Working with John was a very rewarding experience! John was extremely knowledgeable and patient with my new little rescue dog who was very skeptical of everyone. He was leash pulling and had a tendency to run every time the door was opened. In just a few sessions, Jasper accomplished so much and by the time we finished our sessions, he trusted John completely.
