Alan and Rene have been wonderful to work with, and we feel blessed to have met such dedicated trainers.
We were looking for someone to help our dog pass the CGC and possibly move on to other dog certifications.

Alan and Renee of Albree Dog Training have been the best trainers we've ever worked with! We've worked with other trainers and had good results before, but we didn't realize how basic those other training sessions were until we signed up with Albree Dog Training. Super impressed!!! I feel like my dog and I are starting to get it. The trainers are very nice and care about our dogs. They put the dog's safety first above all else, which I greatly appreciate. We will continue to work with them and refer others to them.

Uses heavy tools in place of skill.

Uses shock to address prey drive in guardian breeds.

These approaches have been condemned by every academic and scientific organization which informs animal learning and are in direct conflict with the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists, the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior, ASPCA, CCPDT, IAABC, PPG, Humane Society, and on and on and on.

Currently working with several of the dog's who are suffering the fall outs of using pain, discomfort, intimidation, force and pressure as a learning modality.

Working with these people could have the impact you hoped or could create long term behavioral health issues.

Dog training is unregulated.

Trophies and huge sounding years of experience are for dog sports.

Credentials, education, testing, results and experience are for changing dog behavior.

Don't get the two confused.

You do not need to use tools engineers specifically to create discomfort to teach a dog anything; ever.

Using learning approaches created in the past 25 years and departing considerably from how we trained dogs from the early 1900's is safer, more fun and FAR more effective at creating permanent, resilient changes to dog behavior.

This is obvious as modern companion animal learning approaches consider the underlying motivations the dog is producing the behavior and isn't as simplistic as creating a consequence in the moment as an attempt to reduce a habit driven behavior that is reinforced by context not by ANY consequences the humans provide.

If you don't already understand the difference between behaviors driven by stimulus response learning and reinforced by habit and goal directed behaviors that are driven by reward seeking learning, should you even be charging a fee to teach other people about animal learning at all?

Allen and Renee run wonderful weekly obedience classes in Tahoe Park. They are a great way to help your dog learn how to behave among other dogs! My Delilah has made great progress thanks to them!

Old school training techniques that cause irreputable damage to canines. I personally had to euthanize a aggressive puppy who became much worse after prong collar training with this company. This was many years ago before I knew any better. Just like we know better than to spank our kids now, we shouldn't be punishing and hurting our dog in order to get them to listen. #Trainwithoutpain

i appreciated the ease of setting up an appointment and also the trainer's passion as well as him showing me a multitude of techniques to help me train my dog, however, their website is very misleading. They advertise themselves as using "positive " reinforcement based training and this is not the case. the techniques that i was told were more so aversive and punishment based. for example, one of the techniques suggested to stop them from barking was to put vix vapor rub to put on the nose of the dog. They also offer using different types of collars including chain collars, prong collars, etc. I guess they consider themselves as positively reinforcing purely based on the fact that their correction is followed by treats after but with that, i wouldn't quite label it the way they do in their 'about' tab on their page. There should at least be something on their site that mentions the use of physical corrections mixed with positive reinforcement. So i suggest that if you're only looking for a strictly positive reinforcement based trainer, look elsewhere.

Wow! I cannot begin to thank Alan and Renee enough. We rescued a pup (Chuck) a year ago and he came with some pretty spectacular behavior issues. We tried all kinds of things before hiring Alan, and I wish we had skipped those steps! We worked one on one with Alan and then did the 4 group sessions, and little Chuck has been doing amazing! It takes a lot of hard work at home, but the things we learned in training were invaluable. Chuck is much less anxious, he listens great, and we even taught him some hand signals like Alan suggested which makes him look very cool. I have even been able to bring him with me to work at a busy gym full of strangers and other dogs. Cannot recommend his services enough.
