I am heartbroken to write this review after what was, sadly, our most recent experience at The Kennels. My dog has stayed here multiple times before, with no complaints, and I've always loved the staff. However, this time was a completely different story.

Upon picking up my dog, I was horrified to find that he was covered in urine. His entire legs were yellow, and his belly was soaked. When I asked what happened, I was told he had run through a puddle of urine. But this doesn't explain the extent of the mess. I was also informed that they had to bathe him mid-stay, but no explanation was given as to whether it was due to him being filthy with urine and feces. My dog has sensitive skin, so a call to me about the situation would have been appreciated, especially given the condition he was in.

I was also told that he wasn't eating, which I've heard happens occasionally, but instead of calling me for advice, they decided to double-feed him at night. I can't help but wonder, were they even feeding him properly in the morning. And to top it off, I was told that he had been placed in the wrong kennel at first, and he was sleeping on a wooden crate. This raises further concerns about the level of care he received.

When I called to voice my concerns, I was surprised to learn that the ownership had changed and that the new owner was not available due to his age. This left me feeling even more unsettled about the lack of accountability and care.

Given the treatment my dog received this time, I will never return to The Kennels. To be honest, I feel that what happened to him could be described as neglectful, and I truly believe it's a form of dog abuse. I hope they take this feedback seriously and improve the care they provide to future pets.

Response to owners' message: Thank you for your response, but I want to clarify that the point of my message was not to argue over who’s in charge, but simply to reference who I knew from our previous stay.

That said, I feel like there are a lot of excuses being made here. First, it wasn’t raining while we were gone, so I don’t understand why my dog was wet. Of course, I understand you need to take him outside for bathroom breaks, but I don’t think he should have been left outside for extended periods. Do your outdoor kennels hold water, or was there another reason for him to be wet?

As for his feeding, the schedule was not normal. He was only fed at night, and he received a double portion, which upset his stomach. This wasn’t the routine we discussed, and it caused an issue.

Lastly, I don’t need to bring him back for another bath. I had to bathe him again when we got home because he was soaked in urine, not because he was dirty.

I just wanted to address these points and make sure we’re on the same page. Thank you.

We’ve taken our Charlie to the Kennels for years and have always been happy with how well she’s taken care of. Cindi and the rest of the staff are so good to her and give her lots of love and attention.

I left my dogs for 13 days at The Kennels. One of my dogs is a Pit mix. They did not let his scary demeanor keep them from making friends with him. They gave him lots of love and excellent care.

CoCo and I were pleased with her recent stay and plan to use The Kennels for a future stay. Cindy (who has been there and is familiar with our prior pets) was very helpful in setting us up with a daytime visit prior to her longer stay, and made CoCo feel very welcome. Keep up the good work!

We take our 14 year old cockapoo “Hilo” to The Kennels, we have been using their services for 6 years now.
We highly recommend them. The visits are safe, clean and we know our loved one is given the best of compassion and kindness. If he could talk he would be very appreciative of The Kennels staff and accommodations as my husband and I are.

Great groomer. My little pooch never comes back stressed as at other groomers, and her yorkie face looks perfect.
