Neat and clean place! The doggy bakery cabinet is so cute! The selection for all animals is great! I will say I think that some items are more expensive than say pets mart or petco. But the betta fish had bigger bowls than usually what they are sold in. And the animals that were for sale there looked extremely well taken care of, happy, and clean.

Almost all of their reptiles/exotics are severely neglected, Chameleon turning white (sign of overheating or severe illness), Crested Gecko with nowhere to climb sitting somnolent in food bowl (arboreal species), Curly Hair Tarantula with maybe 5 millimeters of substrate and a bone dry water dish and no hide (this is a burrowing species and requires 5 inches minimum of substrate depth to accommodate), Scorpion also with no hide and a bone dry water dish. Absolutely unacceptable, this place should be shut down. Please support Scales And Tails right down the street on 104th and Huron, they don’t neglect exotics. Ridiculous that this is allowed to operate.

Store was a mess and there were boxes of stuff all over the aisles. employees could work on customer service skills.
They had 3 different sized leopard geckos in one small cage. This is incredibly dangerous and can lead to injury or death. Reptile carpet is horrible as it harbors bacteria and can rip out nails and get caught on their toes which can then break their toes.
Bird cage was a mess and the ferrets had no food or water.

First of all, I very rarely do google reviews. A business must be exceptionally good or bad for me to leave one. Unfortunately, my experience AFTER visiting this store today made me never want to return.

I bought a bag of cat food at the Thornton Pet Supplies Plus store today and went home. When I got home, I noticed I had a voicemail from the store cashier associate saying I needed to come back to the store to pay an extra $12.98 or it would come out of his paycheck. Before calling the store back, I looked at my credit card activity to make sure my card had a pending charge of $50.97, which is what the cat food cost. It did, and I confirmed the cost of the food plus tax on their website. It was exactly $50.97, so I had no idea why the cashier was calling me on my personal cell number saying I need to pay an additional $12.98. I called the store, and there was no answer. I didn't leave a message because I didn't think I needed to waste any more of my time on this as I correctly paid for what I bought. However, about 10 minutes later, the cashier called me again saying I needed to return to the store to pay the extra $12.98. I said there is no way I owe the store more money as I paid exactly what I should have for the food. The cashier says, "Well, my manager said..." At that point, I asked to speak to the manager. After a few minutes of being on hold, the manager comes on and says I still owe $12.98. I told the manager there is no way the cat food is more than I already paid. I told her if I bought the food on the website right now for pickup, it would be exactly what my card was already charged. The manager says something like "well, it could be different because of discounts, etc." I go back and forth with her for awhile saying there is no way that this 18 oz bag of food is $63.95. Then she mentions two pet food bowls. I say "What are you talking about? I never bought any bowls. I only bought the bag of food!" The manager says, "I'm going to check the security camera footage." I say, "Go for it. I'm the customer with the horizontal striped shirt with my teenage kid." The manager makes me wait on the phone for about 5 minutes while she goes through the camera footage at the exact time of my purchase. She says something along the lines of, "I see you now. You have the bag of cat food, you pay for it, and then leave. The next customer in line has the two bowls. It was a computer glitch. Sorry about that." I accepted the apology, but this whole experience has made me never want to shop at this store again. I have 2 dogs, 3 cats, a lizard, and fish, so they will lose a lot of potential future business from me. Why didn't the store do their research and review the camera footage prior to contacting me? I should have never been contacted, had to explain myself, and help them figure out their error. Additionally, the question remains: What would have happened if they didn't have the security camera footage? It would have been my word that I didn't actually purchase the pet bowls against theirs. Would they have called law enforcement on me to pay for something I never even bought?

I really hope they don't call the next customer in line who bought the bowls asking them to return to the store to pay the $12.98 for a mistake on the store's end. What kind of business does that? I worked for Petco as a teenager and in college. If a Petco associate (or computer glitch) made a mistake by not charging something properly, we would NOT call the customer and ask them to return to the store to pay the difference. It would have just been a loss (shrinkage) for the store. Are you going to pay back the customer for their time and gas to drive back to the store to pay the difference for the store's mistake? I understand losses are a bigger deal for smaller businesses, but wouldn't it be better to take the loss of $12.98 for the store's error in order to maintain future business profits (and get good reviews) from that customer?

The main lady that helped us changed our minds about the food we where serving our dogs we Will try the fresh no grains hope it helps! They have a couple bays for dog wash ask about punch card for wash! Just ask the question and if the person helping you doesn't know they will get someone else to help very polite staff! See you all again

Staff is always helpful and the store is always stocked. Rewards program is solid. My furbabies always have fun whenever we go shopping for them.
