My girlfriend and I have had some difficulties in training our 2 year old Frenchie at the time. So we were referred to Bryan and April to get the help we need to become confident owners in order to confidently train our dog. Our dog suffered from unwanted behaviors. Luckily Mutt and Tumble were able to create and follow a specific training plan for our dog to help get rid of various negative behaviors such as food aggression and respecting space. They work with each dog individually to curate a specific training plan that will help you as the owner to confidently train your dog after returning from the board and train!

Bryan is the real deal. I rescued Finnegan in July 2023. Very sweet 1.5 year old mix (after dna test found out he was Min Pin, Cattle Dog, Terrier). Very good boy, a love bug, great with kids, other dogs, but very reactive/active. Inside he's a couch potato, outside a Tasmanian Devil. Very reactive and some aggression on leash; off leash, he was shot out of a cannon, took off. That doesn't work for me for both on-leash and off-leash (since I do a lot of hikes in Marin). Read M&T's reviews, met Bryan; I was convinced he could help.

Signed Finn up for the three week Board & Train. Was hard letting him go (I only had him for 3 weeks and we had bonded), but it was the best decision. Byran was board and training 5-6 dogs at this time, plus he had one or two of his own. Finn quickly became a member of the "pack", (which he loved), both the dog pack and Byran's family pack. Bryan swears by three principles: Exercise, Discipline and Affection. Let's face it, some dogs (like Finn, that are very reactive), need more than treat-training. I joined the pack on a few walks during that time, where Bryan trained me; was amazed at Finn's turnaround. Much less reactive, more disciplined, and best of all... calmer. Bryan "3 Principles" really translate to dogs like Finn. Would highly recommend Mutt and Tumble.. PS, brother's dog Ella has fallen in love with him... šŸ˜‰

April and Bryan are so great at what they do. We worked with them when our dog was about 5. He is a sweet 75lb pittie who was always very excited. Because of his size, it was hard to walk him and even more difficult to trust him off leash because his recall was so bad. But without off leash time, he also wasnā€™t getting enough exercise. Through Bryan and Aprilā€™s balanced training technique, Kermit it was like night and day. He did a three week board and train where he was given consistency and constant opportunities to practice new skills. Most importantly, they trained my husband and I to be confident as owners and get better on the same page. Honestly, it really changed our lives and improved the quality of our dogā€™s lives. Heā€™s calmer, more responsive, and happier overallā€” and we are too!

I have two rat terriers and sent the more troublesome one to Mutt and Tumble for board and train. My dog "Togo" is 2 1/2 but hasn't outgrown puppy mode.

To summarize the results of Mutt and Tumble's behavioral training is the following experience. Every time I took Togo to a dog park, it would take me at least 15 minutes to an hour to get him leashed and go home. Once Togo knew it was time to go, he was so smart to know my antics on how to get him leashed up. I would also have to ask any other dog owner in the dog park to grab Togo for me because he would avoid me like a greased piglet. Now after board and train, I called "Togo come!" from 150ft and he came to me and sat. Wonders! Just Wonders!

I've always been afraid that Togo would jet out my garage and get hurt by a car. Now that he has developed a reliable recall I feel much better. I've also learned from Bryan to be a pack leader and reset the hierarchy at home with the dogs. Togo is a working dog and vermin exterminator. I'm trying to give him the life and structure he needs.

cannot express enough how grateful i am for bryan and april's expertise with my dog daisy. daisy is a big girl with a lot of energy and little impulse control! we have done a couple of private lessons with trainers here and there throughout the years, but i feel the progress we have made with mutt & tumble is just incomparable. even a year after her board & train, daisy is able to run freely (off leash!) almost daily at our favorite place in the world - fort funston! will definitely be reaching out again for some refresher lessons šŸ™‚

To say that Bryan and April helped us is an understatement. They did more than that by giving us back a dog who now understands boundaries, limitations and affection while we reclaimed our spot as the pack leaders in the household.

Rocket is our second English Bulldog and we pretty much thought he would have been like our first, who was super friendly with low energy. We were dead wrong. Although Rocket was and still is the love bug who was quite disciplined, as he got older, he got bolder and was exhibiting wrong behaviors rather frequently. He lunged at other dogs, got into scuffles with some, nipped people (including us), couldn't stand small dogs, couldn't control his energy, was extremely stubborn and extremely possessive over balls that do not belong to him. We realized very quickly we were not equipped with the knowledge to train or discipline dogs like himself. We even had him on a medication- Trazadone - as a means to calm him. The stress of walking him, the anxiety we felt when we see other owners with their dogs walking towards us, the sadness and guilt we felt when thinking about how he wouldn't get a chance to play or socialize with other dogs sort of overwhelmed us. That is until we decided to have him board and train at Mutt and Tumble. Rocket stayed with them for about 6 weeks in total and we were floored by the changes!!

Long story short - he now is a very happy dog whose walks have improved by leaps and bounds leaving us lighthearted, his energy is well-balanced, he has learnt to control his obsession with balls, he is PLAYING and learnt to SOCIALIZE with other dogs and best of all, off the Trazadone! What it just goes to show is that he is now TRUSTING and RESPECTING us as the pack leaders. It is important to note that it's an ongoing process as we continue to upkeep our training armed with the newly-discovered knowledge but it has also brought our little family closer.

All this couldn't have been possible without Bryan and April from Mutt and Tumble. Truly. We cannot recommend them enough.

Rocket graduated a couple of weeks ago. We are so proud of our baby boy. Thank you so much Bryan and April!!!

Shouting from the rooftops how AMAZING Mutt & Tumble was for our big boy, Hercules. We enrolled our 100lb 1 year old puppy for the 4 week board and train, and the outcome has been truly life changing.
Hercules is a large breed working dog who inherently wants to guard and protect, and was overly excited aboutā€¦.everything. Heā€™s a gentle giant toward people (especially kids), but when it came to other dogs he came off strong and we werenā€™t sure how interactions would go after experiencing a few scuffles. Walking him became stressful because he pulled the whole time and whenever we encountered another dog, heā€™d lunge and pull and bark like crazy. It started to feel out of control and walking him or taking him anywhere became daunting and stressful. We couldnā€™t let him off leash unless we were in an enclosed area, and his overall obedience needed some major improvement. All this to say, we knew at his core he had the potential to be an amazing dog, he just needed the right resources to show him how to be the best version of himself.
Enter Bryan and April with Mutt and Tumble. I found them on Yelp and reached out immediately based on their glowing reviews. We had a phone call and then scheduled an in person meeting the following week. Bryan was extremely responsive and explained things thoroughly. And as soon as we met him, we could feel his calm demeanor and knew his program would be the perfect fit for Hercules (and us!) We enrolled him immediately. Saying bye for 4 weeks wasnā€™t easy, but the board and train comes with in person lessons (the humans need to learn what the dog learns!) so we got to see him once a week for training sessions. From the first visit we saw an improvement! By the time he finished week 4, it was like night and day. And now that he is home, our world has changed for the better!! Our boy is loose leash walking, recalling, minding boundaries, is fully crate trained, listening to our commands, and not barking at other dogs. Most importantly, heā€™s so much calmer which is translating to every aspect of his behavior.
Itā€™s been such a positive transformation and I canā€™t thank Bryan and April enough for shaping our dog into such an incredible family member. The time and effort they put into each dogā€™s training is so apparent. He was well loved and from the pictures and videos it was clear he was having a great time with the rest of the pack. If youā€™re on the fence about getting your dog into a program like this, donā€™t hesitate. Mutt & Tumble is worth Every. Single. Penny!!!!

Brian and April were fantastic. My
dog was out of control when I first brought him to Mutt And Tumble. He had separation anxiety and chewed through my french doors and other assorted household itemsā€¦ He even was jumping up on my dining room table..He was a new shelter dog and I wasnā€™t sure how heā€™d get along with other dogs. He had absolutely no idea how to stay in a crate, walk on a leash etc..After a few weeks at Mutt And Tumble, he was a changed dogā€¦. I received daily videos from Brian about Maxā€™s progress..and Brian was available anytime of the day to call for questions..Max had the best time with Brian.. At times when I see Brian now at the dog park, Max wants to stay with him and not come with mešŸ˜€
My experience with Mutt And Tumble was fabulous. I would highly recommend Brian and April to all that need help with their dogs. I canā€™t thank you guys enough!!!
