I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Haley to anyone who needs help with their dog's behavior issues. My dog, Sky, was extremely reactive to dogs when we had first started training. He could not be within 20 feet of another dog, his reactions were explosive (barking, lunging, pulling to the end of the leash/choking). I felt extreme anxiety whenever I walked him outside, fearing we would run into other dogs and set him off. With humans, he was more okay within 5 feet as long as they didn't make sudden quick moves or try to pet him. Haley's calm energy put me at ease from the first meeting. Her training methods helped me learn to communicate better with Sky and gave me the tools necessary to manage his reactions when we run into a potential trigger. After 6 weekly sessions working with various distractions, he is now able to pass by another dog at a park with only minimal whines or a couple barks and I'm able to get his attention back to me a lot easier. My goal is to be able to bring Sky with me everywhere eventually, and while we still have some ways to go, I definitely feel more confident handling him on walks now after working with Haley.

I recently adopted two Shi Tzu’s and they have been running the household. They’ve been chewing on furniture and drywall. Haley taught me new perspectives on how I should crate train them, potty train them. And gave me some great tips making sure everyone is on board with the training program. After a couple of weeks I can proudly say I’ve seen some amazing changes in their destructive behavior. I appreciate Haley’s expertise. I definitely recommend Haley’s services to anyone who owns a dog. She really knows her stuff.

I own a young (a year and some months) female French bulldog/Boston terrier mix that is prone to aggression towards both strangers and other dogs. I couldn’t take Ginny anywhere where there was even a remote possibility she would be in close proximity to other people or dogs without fearing she would try to bite. Additionally, I had no options for dog sitters other than my folks (whom Ginny knew from puppyhood) because she would aggress towards everyone else - muzzled or not. So, forget hikes, dining out on a restaurant patio, walking through a park, or even going on overnight/multi-day trips if my folks weren’t available.

Needless to say, it was a very stressful situation. On top of which, it was one where I was continuously questioning where I went wrong in Ginny’s training, feeling like a terrible owner, embarrassed because she was behaving this way, and frustrated because I didn’t know how to fix it.

After a ton of research to find the best fit, I came across Haley. She already had great reviews, reported extensive experience, and certifications from credible organizations. She also had some of the most reasonable prices (for the services I needed), and I could tell we would not be getting a cookie-cutter approach with Ginny’s training. I figured if I was only going to have one shot at helping Ginny, my best bet would be placing my trust in Haley.

Let me tell you that it was the absolute best decision I could have possibly made. Haley was thorough in her explanations of training techniques (and the “why” behind their use), patient, methodical, and straightforward - yet kind.

Throughout my journey so far with Haley, I have learned so much and developed a stronger bond with Ginny. I finally had answers for my hundreds of questions, and, for once, hope that things could change. I’m not ashamed to admit I was brought to tears at the sight of Haley being able to pet Ginny without an aggressive reaction (AFTER ONLY 4 SESSIONS) - and realizing that she was the first stranger to be able to do that since I got her. I even get comments from my folks like, “Is this really the same dog?!” or “This would have been impossible 3 months ago!”. I acknowledge that Ginny is still, and will likely always be, a work-in-progress - even post-training. But, Rome wasn’t built in a day, and she’s so much further along than I ever could have dreamed or expected in such a short period of time.

If you want results, AND you are willing to put in the practice outside of training, you cannot go wrong with Haley. Trust the process, do the homework, and have faith in your canine companion. You may be just as surprised at the results you get!

From the bottom of my heart - thank you, Haley & Petra K9! I don’t know what I would’ve done without you!

My dog, Pepper, had significant issues including aggression, biting, and reactivity to other dogs. We contacted Haley and did 6 bi-weekly sessions with her, half of them being home sessions and the other half outside in a park or in dog friendly areas. Working with Haley was great, she was able to answer all of our questions, work with us based on our needs, and gave us homework which helped us have concrete goals/training tasks to work on every 1-2 weeks. Throughout our training, I watched Pepper become a lot less aggressive, bite a lot less, and his reactivity has gone down a lot. Although he still has some ways to go with his training, Haley helped significantly, would highly recommend her as a trainer 🙂

We reached out about dog training for our 50 lb rescue dog; we’d been having trouble walking her because she pulled so hard we’d sometimes have sore muscles the next day! She was also reactive after a bad dog park experience. I wasn’t sure what to expect because we’d done a few classes elsewhere that hadn’t seemed to help.

After working with Haley we can walk our girl and she doesn’t pull at all! Even better we know how to avoid her reactivity. She even got to meet a friend’s dog without incident last week! Hayley was really patient and thoughtful about her approach; we started working in the house and slowly moved up to public places. I can tell my dog feels more confident in public places and she also seems like she trusts me more in stressful situation (she actually looked at me for guidance when another dog was barking at us; amazing!) We’re so grateful to have had Hayley as our dog trainer; she was available for questions via text and gave us homework each week; she even brought a stuffed dog to practice with for a couple of weeks and she took into consideration what methods we wanted to use as well! We got free group classes after our private lessons so that Scully could practice her non-reactive walking which really helped!

I would definitely recommend Petra K9; it was SO worth it!!

Training really helped us with our dog . Hailey is very patient and helpful not only with the dog but with the people involved with the training . We had our 6 year old son participate in the training . Loved going to class every time she would teach us new ways to interact and engage with our dog . We would definitely recommend anyone who needs dog training to sign up with Hailey .As we are able to enjoy the company of our dog a lot more now that he listens . Our son is now able to be around our dog and be confident instead of scared .We can now walk our dog without pulling and tugging thanks to Hailey .She comes to your location first for your dog to feel comfortable and get to know her first which I loved . 10/10

Would definitely recommend training with Petra k9! Haley helped us from day one with our corgi Walter. We started with her doing 1-on-1 sessions when he was a puppy to get all of the basics down. Specifically she helped us with his resource guarding over his food, walking without pulling, and all of the basic commands. We still go to the group training sessions which are an awesome way to keep Walter on track with trainings and be around other dogs as distraction practice. No matter what you need or where you are in your training journey with your pup - Haley is the trainer to go to!

Haley has been an incredible help in teaching me and my dog how to manage my dog's extreme anxiety and fears. She has a broad knowledge base of different methods of training and she was flexible with scheduling. Her prices are very affordable compared to other professional trainers I had spoken to in the San Jose area. We completed four private sessions with Haley with significant improvement in my dog's anxiety levels. I will continue to use PetraK9 in the future for any of my dog training needs!
