I can't recommend Mark Pena enough as a dog behavioral specialist. My dog, Zora, has struggled with anxiety for some time, especially around people and other animals. She would get overly excited, barking and jumping constantly. Mark was incredible from the start—he really took the time to understand Zora's specific needs and behaviors.

Through his guidance, I learned effective tools to redirect Zora's impulses and gradually modify her behavior. The transformation has been remarkable. Zora is now calmer and more controlled around situations that used to be very triggering for her.

We interviewed several dog trainers before finally settling on Mark Pena with By the Bay Dog Training. In the end, we loved how personable and knowledgeable he was and it was immediately obvious he was great with dogs. Our two small dogs had started fighting each other over food, toys, dog beds, me, literally anything. Our package included four at-home training sessions with Mark, plus additional homework. In the meantime, he was always available for extra support via text. And even after our sessions were over, we've had lengthy follow-up conversations regarding different doggy behaviors. Our two dogs have not fought since our last session with Mark. They know new commands like, "Place", which is where they go if they are being naughty, if we need them to stay out of the way for some reason, or if we are getting ready to leave for the day. We can now play with both dogs at once without any fighting starting. Mark is very, very thorough, flexible with his schedule and you will get a ton of great information. Would highly recommend, Mark is the Best!

We had the sincere pleasure of working with Mark Peña to train our 7-month-old rescue dog, Barry (now 11 months), who entered our lives with a few existing behavioral issues that we needed to address ASAP (we have two small children and a senior cat). From the very first assessment meeting, Mark's expertise and dedication were evident. He took the time to understand our specific needs and desired outcomes, which made us feel confident that we were in the right hands.

Mark put together a comprehensive training plan that started with an initial boot camp for Barry, where he focused on establishing the foundation of good behavior. He walked us through negative and positive reinforcements and how to apply them in the training program. Following that, Mark tailored the training to address our specific goals, ensuring that we could seamlessly incorporate the lessons into our daily routine.

One of the things I liked a lot about having Mark as a trainer is that he provided us with a detailed, printable handbook. It was incredibly helpful to have a resource we could refer to whenever we needed a refresher on the training techniques. Additionally, Mark was flexible and accommodating with scheduling, allowing us to book as many sessions as we needed to feel comfortable and confident in continuing the training on our own.

Thanks to Mark's guidance, Barry has made tremendous progress, and we feel empowered to continue reinforcing the positive behaviors. We couldn't be happier with the results and highly recommend Mark to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, patient, and results-driven dog trainer. I wish I could give him more stars, especially since this isn't our first dog trainer experience. He is the best.

This is a very bad service. Cheats customers. Do not sign up.

I called to register with a in home trainer. Price I was told via email was $1175.

Trainer comes home once - see things around advises for a collar and cot, makes me sign contract, I give cheque and leaves. $1375 cheque.

Trainer shows up first time, starts Day 1 training.

Trainer comes second time Day 2 Training

Trainer charges entire $1375 and doesn't show up after that. Has been rescheduling.

Summary in 1 month shows up only twice and fully paid service for $1375. I tried to ask Trainer for regular schedule.

I called, email By the bay Dog Training several times to ask for change in Trainer. NO RESPONSE. I requested for FULL REFUND in email. NO RESPONSE.

my full money is gone $1375 and no training for my puppy. WASTE OF TIME!

I am posting this in all social media for awareness in bayarea.

Do not sign up or give any cheque until you get satisfied with the training provided. BAD service overall.
